Read what parents are saying about Highland Oaks Middle SchoolMy son is gifted and in 7th grade he can study subjects like Algebra 1 and Physical Science, which are usually taught much later. Next year he is going to study Geometry. The school supports his amazing progress and encourages him to reach his goals. Yes, there is homework and students are required to submit it on time, which helps them to be ready for High School and College.
Posted by a parent on 6/14/2023There's a lot of electives which is great!! But honestly they give to much homework. As a person who does a lot of things after school, I don't always get to finish my homework and I get in trouble. But overall it's an amazing school!!!!
Posted by a student on 11/19/2021If I could I would change my kids, the principal tries hard but the school is big. Oh let me don't forget the music class, you have to pay $150 to belong to the music program, yes, you pay for rent of instruments, insurance, uniforms and have to take and help with the presentation, even if you are not from the PTA which in music a Latin woman, Fabiola, has the first place, even she is rude, thankfully she is an obstacle for a good communication.
Posted by a parent on 1/21/2020I have one child in the gifted program. She is happy there. The music Orchestra program is great. The principal keeps parents informed.
Posted by a parent on 4/26/2019We have two children in this school, and as parents we are very happy with HOM in general. Great gifted and I Prep programs. Large variety of electives. Unlike other schools in the same district, the school has a friendly staff w/ an open doors policy. Their music program is amazing!!! I feel that they embrace diversity and offer a safe environment for students. The principal is a very enthusiastic individual willing to work with parents and teachers for the sake of qualitative education. Some teachers can be a challenge to deal with, but this doesn't make this school the exception (same goes for parents). Overall, we are glad our kids go to Highland Oaks Middle School.

7/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageYou are not allowed to even ask something to the teacher, some of them would not take 5 min to address a concern and reply to parents in a very disrespectful way. Also office staff is not knowledgable and the new admin Cristina is so arrogantPTa would never reply emails or callsOther than that great schoolParent Review2y ago - Ojus Elementary School

8/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThis school has been amazing for my kids, especially being back after a pandemic. The teachers and staff try so hard to make learning fun and have continuous activities to keep the kids engaged. Drop off and pick up are also extremely easy and quick!Parent Review1y ago - Aventura Waterways K-8 Center

N/AGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI am very happy with this school's nursery program. The nursery teacher is amazing and really cares about the babies. The nursery has three seperate areas, one for eating, one for sleeping, and one for playing. The staff is great, the place is clean, and the rates are reasonable. Plus, it's Christian-based. It is a great place!Parent Review13y ago - Spirit of Christ Child Development Academy

N/AGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageSpirit of Christ definitely has potential but it isn't quite there yet..They lack some things that can really help children excel like a media center, not a lot of extra curricular activities, and no gifted classes. The aministration/staff is nice but some of the teachers should be a bit more professional. I loved the emphasis they put on christ and the nursery and pre k are great everything else is just ok in my opinion. I hope they improve in the future and become more diverse.Parent Review10y ago - St Lawrence Elementary School
