Read what parents are saying about Saint John Paul II Catholic SchoolSaint John Paul II Catholic School is the best school you will find in Citrus County. More than a school, this is a family. My kids had been coming to this school since they were babies and I would not trust the education and care of my children to anybody else. A very safe and welcoming environment. The principal, Mr. Sayago has done a very good job all these years and has done something very difficult to achieve, gather the best teachers and staff you could ever imagine! I will forever be grateful to everybody here for taking care of all the children as if they were their own.
Posted by a parent on 8/7/2023I agree with the previous review, no special needs qualified teachers, no guidance counselor. When half the students have special needs in the 7th grade. That's 8 of the 16 students. Special needs students are underserved. The social and communication skills of the students are in line with there disorders and syndromes. This doesn't not mean they are bad kids. There are lovely children. But because they are not given the proper attention they deserve causes a lot of confusion and conflict. There is no oversight by the State of Florida because there a private school, and yet the State pays there way. I would not recommend this school if your child has any learning or special needs.
Posted by a parent on 10/18/2021I have seen a dramatic decline in this school over the past few years. Numerous teachers have four year degrees, but do not have teaching certifications or elementary education degrees. This lack of training is evident in classroom instruction. The instructors do not offer a positive learning environment for children that struggle with learning differences. Also, this school lacks extracurricular activities that are available in other local private and public schools.
Posted by a parent on 5/10/2021Love this place have seen my kids transform and become even mote respectful and christ minded individuals. Thankful for the opportunity they have to attend. They take step up for students income based scholarships and not once have I felt any different than the person paying cash. My concerns are always listened to and the principle works with u to come up with a solution to any issues or concerns u may have. I was very impressed because he knows the children at his school so well. He can rattle off my students academic growth or struggles like he just reviewed there file yet I know he had no advance notice of me coming to ask him questions. He knows what’s happening in his school and wants each child to succeed to their fullest potential
Posted by a parent on 7/9/2019Our child has attended SJP2 for 4 years and has grown spiritually, academically and socially. Given that leadership has changed twice since starting at the school, it is evident that the students are a top priority. Our child feels safe and cared for by faculty and staff. It is a family environment and most importantly, Christ-centered!

5/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageMy daughter went thru all the Lecanto schools right thru HS graduation. My son will (sadly) start here this fall. There is no strong leadership at this school. The teachers & the district allow favoritism to be the rule of law here. My daughter was an honor role student and yet was denied admittance to several extracurricular programs. Now, I've just learned, Kindergarten sign-ups were 2 weeks ago and I never received any notification. When you call the school your calls are answered by some random nameless, faceless and usually brainless person. They have no answers to any questions and simply shuffle you off to whatever random extension they can think of. The staff at this school are uncaring, unprofessional, impractical and, in most cases, useless. Any issues you have will be referred to the district offices (which can take weeks) rather than handling any complaints or concerns directly. I'm ready to move just avoid dealing with this school again. The teachers don't care because they know there is no accountability for their actions or behaviors, while at the same time they expect perfection from students. They want kids that will march along like "good little soldiers" without a thought on their own. The school motto should be "Think & do as your told, or else...".Parent Review6y ago - Rock Crusher Elementary School

Now with the way I have seen my kids being treated and not helped to get over the bullying they are getting and stopping the bullying and making them feel like they are not smart, no one likes them.....not happy with this school at all.Parent Review5y ago - Seven Rivers Christian School

N/AGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageFor those considering SRCS, overall they provide a solid educational experience. But unfortunately nepotism is allowed and seems to be encouraged so be prepared for your child to not receive an earned academic award or start on a sports team based on merit. Miraculously, often times a coach and/or teacher’s child usually undeservingly wins out. They do not even hide their nepotism; the following is a true story. A teacher/parent in class brags to the other children that their child/student is a genius, I’m sure making the other children feel less of themselves. Don’t be surprised if the self-proclaimed student genius receives the top award and thus takes the award from the true top student that actually earned it. Unfortunately, this happens at SRCS. Wish this wasn’t the case but just keep this in mind as it is a school full of cronyism. I will say overall it is a good school for an education and much better than what the public schools are offering.Parent Review1y ago
