Read what parents are saying about Martin Luther King Elementary SchoolThe principle Ms. Proctor has this non chalent attitude when talking to you. She is very rude and seems not to care about the students. Please replace this principle with some who cares for our children we need get her out of this school asap!
Posted by a parent on 6/22/2015This school was amazing when they had the old staff now they have this working on the floor which gives kids the cue to crawl around to play instead of sitting at their desk comfortable to do their work. They call me everyday as adults they have no control over their students. The principal is no help and she take everything for a joke I really appreciate the help from Mr.Louison and Mr.Wilson
Posted by a parent on 3/31/2015The Montessori education on any level can be pricey. For such a school to be placed in this location for all residents to experience this option of education is beneficial to our future. As our kids are taught critical thinking and responsibilities, learning academics on their identified level by professional certified teachers. Most of all, the teachers love what they do it, they don't just say it, they show in their actions.
Posted by a community member on 10/5/2014The school has a new flavor! The district has placed many new coaches and administrators here to help turn the school around. Staff morale is high, and the community is embracing the new leadership. The teachers are working hard to make a difference in the lives of the children who attend the school.
Posted by a teacher on 10/17/2013I used to ejoy going to Martin Luther King Elelementary to volunteer, but now it's such a cold place to be. The principal feels that she could do everything by herself, she makes changes without including the parents. On the first day of school my husband and I was so excited about taking our son to school. Little did we know that only father's were being allowed to enter the building. That somewhat put a damper and a bad taste in our mouth. We had to explain to our six year old son why mommy and daddy could not eat with breakfast with him on his first day of school. I love Martin Luther King Elemetary, but somehow some of the staff (mainly the principal) has stolen the true vision of what Dr. King stood for. I pray that someone other than myself would post their reviews as well. Disappointed

3/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageOk so heres the deal I went here for grades 1-5, I'm about to start 7th grade but I was at the top of my class in 6th grade, because of this school and the caring staff I'm one of the smartest people in my grade. I can say so much about this school most of them being good, but there are some flaws. I'll start with the good, My FSA scores were always high {4 on math 5 on reading} I've never once failed an important test, and the staff is amazing for the most part but some do play favorites, I had an amazing teacher for 2nd and 3rd grade {yes the same teacher, no I didnt stay back} she loved us so much and she played a big part in who I am today she even still keeps in touch with me and several of my friends to help us out but its not just her the, its the principals, the conselours, and even the lunch ladies. I even had the opportunity to be on the morning anouncments from grades 3-5 and that also helped me a lot with confidence, speaking, and finding out what I wanted to do with my life. Theres so much more to talk about with this school I made some really amazing friends, and although bullying does happen its rare and we all stand up for each other. The school is located in a dangerous area so there are many code reds and stuff but nothing serious ever rlly happens and you get used to it, also thats not a flaw of the school its a flaw of the NEIGHBORHOOD/AREA the school is in. Also I'm not just smart all of the people I know from here has never failed the FSA snd the lowest final grade theyve gotten was a C or F AT WORST cuz they were bad. Also I cant rlly speak on the special education. Another thing they have pretty good aftercares and in school programs. If you take anything away from this very long review take this its an amazing school and I couldnt have asked God for a better one.Other Review9mo ago - Broward Estates Elementary School

5/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI've had some bad experiences, but it's not with the teachers. It was more with the students. I've witnessed bullying between the students. My son was a new student of 3 months. And he was threatened to be maced, jumped after school. But me being a caring mother I made sure I was there everyday after school. The staff tries, but some of the kids are rude, disrespectful, and disruptive. The school needs more control of the students. Cause the kids make the school look bad. If they only go to school to learn they'll be fine. But Larkdale.is the best.Parent Review9y ago - Westwood Heights Elementary School
