Read what parents are saying about Dixie M. Hollins High SchoolThis school has a Cambridge program and the AICE classes offered (just as difficult as AP) aren’t even mentioned on this website. My son has received a great education and made amazing friends. Wonderful theater program, excellent robotics team. We have no complaints.
Posted by a parent on 2/23/2024The students were always well behaved. The worst were Dunedin and Lakeview.
Posted by a community member on 1/11/2018I like this school the second best ive been to only because i had so many close livelt friends at one i went to for two years i havent been to any school for too long but this one is good exceptthe controlling teachers i dont like being controlled ive been to many strict schools with less things you are allowed but ive never felt so criticized in my life. One teacher made me cry roday ive never been so humiliated in my life heisnt very nice in general not saying a name but he seriously needs better communication skills hes not very friendly i dont feel i belong in his class i feel he personally hates me i dont think ive mwt such a rude person in my life i had a really nice teacher here he cares so much for me in my first period class it makes me happy but then i got crushed in the other guys class why did i thought people who like animals are friendlybut clearly not i thought i had very friendly teachers who loved me at the school i went to before this one. But i dont feel so much love here by the teachers but i do the students like i cant enjoy it if a teacher makes me cry.
Posted by a community member on 9/18/2014We were so pleased with our child's experience as a freshman at Dixie Hollins this past year. He was part of the Cambridge program, which offered him great, stimulating classes that are as good as any IB or AP classes, and perhaps better. His class in the Graphic Arts magnet program was amazing. He learned so much and was inspired to stay after school frequently to work on independent projects with other graphic arts students and the teacher, who gave willingly and unselfishly of his time. My high praise goes to Dr, Evans, the relatively new principal, who is doing amazing things at this high school. I believe it is a school to watch, and that the "4" rating it currently has will change soon. There's still a rough element there, but if your child is part of Cambridge and/or one of the other magnets and is a motivated student, s/he will do just great!
Posted by a parent on 6/18/2014Dixie offers a variety of classes which is great. You don't need to be in Cambridge to take their courses, you can take AP, Honor, whatever. Dixie is getting better and better, we are improving and soon we'll probably be an A school :)

5/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThis SCHOOL IS BY FAR THE WORST ELEMENTARY SCHOOL IN PINELLAS COUNTY , MY SON HAS BEEN NOTHING BUT BULLIED PUT DOWN AND MADE TO FEEL LIKE HE IS THE PROBLEM, THEY DON'T ALLOW YOU TO BE INVOLVED WITH THE SCHOOL YOU Aren't EVEN ALLOWED TO BE ON CAMPUS UNLESS YOUR EATING LUNCH WITH YOUR CHILD. MY SON HAS MULTIPLE INCIDENTS INCLUDING BULLYING, PEOPLE STEALING JEWELRY OFF HIS NECK , OTHER KIDS TEACHING HIM INAPPROPRIATE THINGS , RACISM AND MORE AND EVERY SINGLE TIME MY SON WAS TO BLAME FOR IT ALL IT'S SICKING I WISH WE COULD CHOOSE OUT OF TWO OR THREE SCHOOL'S THAT YOU ARE ZONED FOR BECAUSE THIS SCHOOL MADE MY SON HATE SCHOOL !!!!!!!!! I WAS NEVER INFORMED ABOUT ANYTHING THAT HAPPENED TOY SON BUT EVERYTIME MY SON DID Anything THE WOULD CALL ME RIGHT AWAY , THEY MADE MY SON OUT TO BE THIS TERRIBLE KID TO THE POINT THAT MY SON HAD 8 DIFFERENT TEACHERS AND IS ONLY IN 3RD GRADE AND HE IS TRULY THE SMARTEST AND MOST KIND KID EVER ! HE LITERALLY BELIEVES ALL THE TEACHERS HATE HIM . THANK GOD WE ARE MOVING HE DOES NOT HAVE TO DEAL WITH THIS SCHOOL ANOTHER YEAR !!!! TRULY TAKE PRECAUTIONS WITH SENDING YOUR CHILD HERE. ALSO THEY DO NO FUN ACTIVITIES MY SON WENT ON ONE FIELD TRIP IN KINDERGARTEN , HASN'T BEEN OTHER SINCE THEN AND THANK GOD I WAS THERE BECAUSE HIS TEACHER DIDNT EVEN PAY ATTENTION TO THE KIDS ONE OF THE STUDENTS TRIED TO RUN AWAY AND I HAD TO STOP THEM PRETTY SURE THEY DIDNT LET THE PARENT'S KNOW EITHER. 0/10 I had to click a star to leave this review but the get 0 stars from me for sureOther Review10mo ago - Northwest Elementary School

6/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageMy son has attended this school for the past 3 years, starting in kindergarten. I have never had any problems with the staff or employees at this school. Everyone seems to enjoy their job here and care about the kids well being. We have been lucky in receiving great teachers along the way so far! I will update this review if anything changes, however I believe this is a very good school for children. I wanted to make sure and give it a review to let it and others know that!. Thank you!Parent Review2y ago - Seventy-Fourth St. Elementary School

6/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThis school is not the same as is used to be. It was once an incredible place and I, myself used to be a Wildcat and was so proud my child was going to attend this school as well. Up until this past year. The leadership is extremely disappointing, if you plan on requesting any help/guidance/support, you WILL be put off or lied too and your child WILL be disregarded because it just isn't being probably handled as it should. It's a shame, a lot of amazing, long time teachers have left for the exact reasons. Poor leadership. Please do something for the kids of the future and get a more suitable person for the position of being in charge of OUR kids.A concerned parent.Parent Review1y ago - American Montessori Academy

N/AGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageOutstanding! No school is perfect but I had three kids attend from pre-k to 8th grade. The school and school community are still a part of our family. I'd do it all over again without hesitation!Parent Review4y ago - Admiral Farragut Academy

N/AGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageMy only granddaughter is in her third year at AFA and after having some horrible experiences in the local public school system her experience at this campus has been nothing short of transformational, She has blossomed as a young student and is one of the youngest leaders in the NJROTC group and just one the Distinquished Cadet award. Its the best investment I've ever made and has become an enveloping community for her. The campus is like an exotic resort, the staff is excellent and the extra curricular activites cover a spectrum of things for the students, from basketball to sailing and much more. I know the education and experience my granddaughter has (and still is) receiving at AFA will give her a secure foothold for the future@Other Review1y ago
