Read what parents are saying about Mcarthur High SchoolMcArthur is such a nice school, nice environment and good teachers, but they have to work on the administration department, there's always a mess... Counselors are never available, most of the students have issues with their credits because the administration always make a mistake and some of the workers at the administration department are mean and depressing.
Posted by a student on 8/17/2017For the most part the teachers are great!! And they offer a variety of courses. and extracurricular activities.
Posted by a community member on 2/2/2017I'm a parent of two students attending this school. My son's 9th grade year there was terrible his grades dropped like never before. He had a few issues which I tried to address with Administration. The principal and the assistant principal are very rude and not helpful at all!! They don't encourage parent involvement.I was never called to volunteer. They have a few awesome teachers that do care like Mr. Victor and Mr.Berstein.Ms.Tammy and Ms.Denice are very helpful and nice!
Posted by a parent on 9/27/2016I am a parent and I have had an awful experience at this school with first my oldest child and currently having a very negative experience with my youngest son there. They will force your child out of their school and into alternative programs that do not work as soon as they show any signs of falling behind. My youngest has been in summer school since day one of summer school and I have called three a times a week trying to actually get him placed in the class he needs to make up. It took over a month for him to even start the summer program because of the sheer incompetence of the staff. Someone should remove the A from the front of this school. They do not deserve it.
Posted by a parent on 7/14/2016As a current student of McArthur, I have nothing but good things to say. The Debate Team within their first year achieved so much and programs/clubs like the Med Club and Spider which helps you with specific major(s) are available. 95% of the teachers are great and are involved with the student body just like guidance. The amazing thing about the teachers at McA is the fact they teach you morals and life lessons as well as the class. I feel like as an young adult whose not so quite ready to face the real world it is imperative for us to learn from those with experience and become a better person. McArthur is constantly trying to improve and have been successful in many aspects. I'm extremely proud to be graduating from McArthur.

4/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThis place is to avoid at all costs. WeHo elementary is our neighborhood school, and we thought it was a good one from the ratings. 2 weeks my daughter started Kinder, I realized this school is the worst school I’ve evet been in. The kindergarten teachers are not educators. They spend zero effort to connect with children, dont bother with social and emotional development. Children are seen as race horses to be trained to keep the schools grades up. 10 words a week is expected to be memorized by 5 year olds, and children are tested. Homework is ridiculous. Our teacher is leaving in the middle of the year after starting 3 months late. My daughter was so happy to see her go, I didnt even want to complain about the inconsistency. Principal looks involved and caring when you have complaints, but if there is a health issue going on in your classroom, you wouldnt know. We learned we had lice in the classroom from friends because the principal sent a general email to whole school notifying everyone without specifying the classroom in danger. Campus is avarage for public schools, no green space. Only good thing I ve witnessed is the administrative office. Parents are nice but some are so focused on fundraising, its overwhelming. If you dont donate the requested amount, they never stop emailing you. I am very disappointed in WeHo Elementary, we’ll be moving to another school next year. I expect each child to be treated kindly, and appreciated as who they are. But here, kids are labeled from high perferming, to avarage. And if your kid is avarage, they force you to tutoring programs at the age of 5. If you want academic oriented, SAT kind of pressure environment for your child, give it a try. If you expect education beyond ABC’s avoid this place. Oh, kids get ridiculous smiley tickets when they ‘behave’ at school. They are all for prize and punishment system. It break my heart to see kids are getting treats (smile tickets) for ordinary things as if they are puppies in training.Parent Review1mo ago - Driftwood Elementary School

4/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI can only speak through my experience. Both of my sons have attended this school since K. My older one is in his 5th year and is ESE/Gifted, meaning he has an IEP and accomodations. In other words, he has a learning disability. I have to say that the school has done everything they can to accomodate my son. They have done a great job communicating with me throughout the years, and all of his teachers have been wonderful. Not only do his teachers care, but all of the teachers and faculty know him and care about him and lookout for his safety, which is extremely important to me. They have many extra curricular activities, such as Debate, Chorus, Drum club, STEM, etc. My other son loves DE as well and I highly recommend this school.Parent Review6y ago - Boulevard Heights Elementary School

7/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AveragePembroke Pines Elementary is such a family oriented school. All of the staff are extremely friendly and helpful. Ms. Bell is the most amazing principal I have ever met! She has such a SERVANT heart and LOVE for kids. She bends down and treats the kids like they’re the most precious gifts in the world. The staff is always smiling and saying good morning. It feels like a Disney World experience dropping off my child in the morning. The teachers place a high emphasis on the students excelling. My child is attending in-person this year and comes home everyday with nothing but great things to say about his teacher, music teacher, art teacher, and PE teacher. Thank you, Pembroke Pines, for such an amazing start to a new school year.Parent Review2y ago - Hollywood Park Elementary School

N/AGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageLove the atmosphere it’s a very small school so you become like family. My kids love the school and their teachers. Few concerns, I wish they would hire security, with the unpredictable times we’re in right now with school shootings on the rise it would make me more comfortable knowing they had an armed security, they can definitely afford it!Another concern, my kindergartner barely learned to read or write, and they don’t send them w homework or books or anything. Thankfully he learned enough skills to comprehend so we are learning together at home. All in all I will keep my children here for as long as I can because my children love it and the teachers are amazing and trustworthy.Parent Review1y ago - Hollywood Christian School

N/AGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThe teachers don't really like to teach , I feel the teachers want to be friends with the students more than teaching. The students aren't academically challenged here and the students are not very kind. They have a lot of work to do when it comes to academics and consequences with these students and teachers to be honest. They need teachers who want to actually teach.Parent Review8mo ago - Patty Cake School
