Read what parents are saying about Boca Ciega High SchoolGreat school! No problems for my daughter here
Posted by a parent on 7/2/2020Two of my children have attended this school, one graduated and in his first year of college, my youngest graduating this year, already accepted to two colleges. I cannot express how much the teachers care and support the children every step of the way. This comes from an amazing principal Mr. Vigue who every day rain or shine is out in the drive shaking students hands as they enter and waves to the parents as they pass. He also sends weekly updates to the parents. This is a high school! I am blessed to have had my children have such an amazing high school experience with a staff and administration who truly care for the success of their students.
Posted by a parent on 12/7/2015I have twin daughters who attended for four years, graduating 2015. It was rocky at first fundamental just started but the school kept strong with Mr. Vue, best principal in Pinellas County High Schools, staying on top the school policies and procedures and everything in between. What a great A school it became, my giris were motivated to participate in ROTC, as well as other school activities. It has great caring teachers and staff. If you are looking for and excellent choice for High School look no further, Boca Ciega High School is right on top. Check it out take it from a mom that graduated not one but two in 2015!!! Your child deserve a better education!!
Posted by a community member on 6/11/2015It is an unacceptable excuse for a school. They have gotten way out of hand with the control and discipline. They suspend students who can't afford the requirements for the dress code. Also, they disrespect their students.
Posted by a community member on 9/4/2014This school has taken a turn in the right direction thanks to a real leader with solid ideas for overall success and supporting both teachers and student achievement, a fine balance that is hard to do. After working at this school with asst principals that support teachers, advocate for students and have a positive attitude, I am left with nothing but good feelings and memories. Yes, the students can be challenging, but just about every adult there IS constantly working to improve their craft. Teaching is hard work, if you don't believe so, go and try it for one day. Of course you have to have a 4-year degree, pass all of the certifications, have determination and get paid less than most other studied professions. Boca Ciega HS teachers and admin do it day after day and it shows.

2/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThis is by far the worst school i have had the unfortunate necessity of dealing with. In the past 15 years dealing with kids progressing through school....never in my life have i seen such a horrible disregard and disorganization. My child is loudly bullied regularly because she has tan skin instead of black. The administration does not return phone calls about bullying nor do they care. The principal and assistant principal are paid to either not show up or lock thenselves away and not pay attention to what is going on around them. According to the written county statutes on student progression my child should be passing to the next level, the school feels they dont have to follow it and want to retain my child. Not happening. Im reporting this school to the national organization for bullying and to the pinellas county school board. Your child us better served by sitting at home rotting their brains on tv than by going to this school.Parent Review8y ago - Gulfport Montessori Elementary School

3/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThis is by far the worst school I have ever sent my child. There is daily violence and overall unacceptable behavior in the students. The kids who want to learn can’t due to the poor atmosphere. The teachers are great and very supportive but unfortunately the kids seem to be ruling the school here. 100% don’t recommend sending your child to this school. Luckily we don’t have to go back next year.Parent Review11mo ago - Mount Vernon Elementary School

2/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageWe love Mount Vernon. We are new this year and came from a private school experience that we loved. MVE is definitely a different environment but it has a lot to recommend it: the teachers and staff are amazing; the student body and staff are diverse; the parents are engaged. I highly recommend checking out the school on the open house day (Nov 2) or one of the tour days. There's plenty more to learn than the numbers here suggest.Parent Review5y ago - Douglas L. 5/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageMy student attended this school for a semester so far. The teachers and students are engaged in learning and there is a lot of hands on learning taking place. The administration does an excellent job of emotional & social education, motivating kids to learn, and providing opportunities for additional education. They are very organised and clearly very experienced professionals. The gifted program in the school is a single elective. I was worried about that because my child does not socialise well in public schools and is used to being in gifted programs separated from general education. My concerns were unfounded. My child feels very safe here, is able to make friends and has learned so much. There is very little homework, only classwork that must be taken as homework if not completed in class. In addition to class learning, there are field trips, including Kennedy Space Center and The Florida Orchestra. I highly recommend the school if your child is interested in engineering. The entire program is designed around helping kids to think creatively & scientifically and giving them basic information about a lot of different engineering disciplines.Parent Review4mo ago - Our Savior Lutheran School

N/AGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageWe've had two kids graduate OSLS and could not say enough great things about the school! Our daughter transferred from public school, where she wasn't challenged. At OSLS she found her challenge and she had the support from staff and schoolmates to excel. Anytime either of our children faced a struggle, we were encouraged to work with their teachers to help them overcome. Working as a team to aid our kids with their education produced better grades and strengthened our bound as a family. While the quality of education was certainly our first priority, a very special aspect of OSLS is the community the students (and even the parents) form. There is only one class per grade which allows the classmates to form relationships that are meaningful and long lasting. The camaraderie built within the classes reduces bulling and encourages acceptance and kindness.Everything we gained at OSLS was more than we could have ever imagined. We enrolled because a friend recommended it and it was close to the house. We stayed because we found a family.Parent Review10mo ago - Southside Christian Academy
