Dunbar High School

My daughter completed the third grade 2024-2025 and is now in the fourth grade 2025/2026 so she has been at the school for two years. Her progress is visible; she loves the school. We were warmly welcomed, and whenever I need assistance, the staff is accessible. Finding this school was a true gift especially meeting Ms. Ortega and Ms. Carceres, with whom we interact directly. A huge thank you to everyone involved who works to make this school the very best it can be.

We came from Puerto Rico and my daughter was assing to this school in 3 grade and now she will start 5 we love the way they have been helping her out she is a star student .

I’m very disappointed with the lack of communication and accountability at this school. My son, is a bright kid with a lot of potential, but instead of getting the guidance and consistency he needs, it often feels like I’m left to figure things out on my own. I’ve reached out, followed up, and tried to stay involved, but the follow-through and support have been inconsistent at best.What’s frustrating is that I know my child is capable — he just needs the right structure and adults who will actually take the time to redirect him in a positive way. Instead, the same issues keep being repeated without any real solutions or teamwork between school and home.I truly hope the administration takes a deeper look at how students are being handled and how parents’ concerns are addressed. Every child deserves to be supported, not just managed.

This school has obviously made some great changes since the last review. My kids are new their this year and although it was challenging at first, all my kids teachers and the principal have gone above and beyond to help them. We had the chance to change schools after the first few weeks but all my kids didn't want to leave JSIA. Change is hard and overcoming a bad reputation from years past takes time. The leadership and teachers are making strides to make this school safe and the education for our kids quality.

Everyone is very nice at this school very friendly from the time you come into the door in morning and when you return to pick you child in the pm. My son had nothing but great things to say. The principal is just remarkable she has such a sweet spirit!!

It was the school that I attended for 1992 till i graduated in 1998. teachers and staff are very pleasant have a lot of fond memory's at this school.
