Read what parents are saying about Bartow Middle SchoolIm a student at bartow middle school in the 2022- 2023 school year as a 7th grader and i have to say this school is a somewhat of a good school so i love the teachers that teach at the school they are very respectful they help encourage theyre students to learn what they are getting taught. Its a good school they try theyre best to stop the fights that go on inside of this school and the staff/ principle/ and assistant principles are really good people like Mr. Roberts hes a really good principle he suports the students aroung the school he also is a really good person my brother went to this school and now me and my sister go to this school this school has changed alot since my brother and two other cousins have gone here. This school is a somewhat of a supportive school i had rated this school because they have good people at this school but like 20% of them are bad students and we have 1054 students in this school so far but any ways i am just trying to say that i really love this school and what they try to do to help students out with theyre learning and theyre disability's.
Posted by a student on 4/28/2023well... I know why test scores are so low.. My daughter says there is NO control of kids in her classes. They act like animals in a zoo. She can't hear the teacher talking and that the teacher after 15 minutes gives up and sits down. I'm appalled that my daughter has to fake sick and call me so she can cry and beg me to get her out of there!! The noise levels are at 10 + all day and she literally is starting to have panic attacks. This is ridiculous and I wish I had more options for schooling in my area. Lunch is in the MIDDLE of her Science class?? They get up in science class walk to eat and then walk back to finish class?? What in the World? I'm so absolutely devastated that my child is unhappy at school. Poor poor review..and it seems like it's a deserved review! Shame on this "school"
Posted by a parent on 1/23/2018Personally I'm an eighth grader now and over my past three years of being here Bartow Middle school has changed tremendously. When I was in sixth grade, I'll admit it wasn't the greatest place in the world. Some of the teachers were a little rude and the education system wasn't all that good, in fact I'd say it was horrible. But now a days, BMS is turning into a great school, this may be because of our new principle Mr. Roberts. He's trying his best to make BMS a better and safer place. I honestly Like the quote he used to make "good is the enemy of great, and great is what we need here at bartow middle school." He stopped saying this, and I believe its because our goal has been accomplished. Bartow middle school is now a much better place. I recommend thus school.
Posted by a student on 2/20/2017It's an amazing school the teachers are great and know what they are doing teachers are kind and students behavior has improved greatly people think they know everything about bartow middle from a rating and drama and rumors but really they don't if your kid is having issues or getting bad grades it's there fault don't believe any lies they make up about why they are getting bad grades. Middle school changes kids.

5/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageIt is clear that Polk County schools district does not have the proper training for their teachers and administrators on how to work with children that are Autistic. This school has clearly lacked the basic fundamental understanding of Autism and how it affects Autistic children that live with sensory disorder, anxiety, and depression. We have provided the school with a neuropsychological report that explains why the manifestations of certain behaviors with my daughter occurs. If you have an Autistic child, do not enroll them in this school. Also, go to the ESE section of the Polk County schools and review their advisory board minutes. The district is fully aware of their lack of training with ESE students. Very sad!Parent Review5y ago - Gibbons Street Elementary School

2/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageIf you are actually ready to finish work and get to your correct grade, this is the school for you in Polk county! Best staff hands down! They care about their students and want to help if you show you actually care. Don’t come here to sleep! The 1 on 1 help you can receive from teachers is unmatched. Do it now so you can walk with your friends across that graduation stage!Student Review10mo ago - James E. Stephens Elementary School

1/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageWe love this school. My daughter has been attending this school for the past two years. She loves it so much that she doesn't even want to go on break sometimes. The teachers and staff are all caring and make sure to reach out when there is a need. I love the IB unit kickoffs that my daughter has been involved in. This year, they did a "boot camp" style kick off where they got to do field-day activities to explore changes in the natural world. The kids had so much fun. They later got to go on a field trip to the children's museum and used materials to make their own roller coasters. The students also presented their roller coasters to the staff and to the kindergarten students. This year she's also learned about worms, built solar ovens, been challenged in an enrichment group and will soon be attended the summer camp they have available where she'll be able to engage in the Fab Lab. She's super excited about this. We also loved the various parent nights they've had available this year. They did a science night, culture night, and math/ela game night. The culture night was my favorite because we got to learn about different countries and they decorated the whole school. Second grade did Japan and they literally made Cherry Blossom trees we got to walk under. Love the current administration and the staff. Not sure what the data on this website is about. Seems out of date to me. We've all had good experiences here though.Parent Review3w ago - Hospital Homebound
