Read what parents are saying about Amity Regional High SchoolOverloads of homework and testing . They seem more preoccupied by giving the next test than by actually teaching . A lot of times kids are on their own . Also the catalog of electives seems nice you’ll soon realize your kid will only be able to take one or two over the course of 4 years . Not talking about some stupid now mandatory courses . I’m far from impressed by the experience of my kids in that school.
Posted by a parent on 3/2/2024Since the current superintendent has taken over the school is not the school it once was from my experience with older siblings that graduated.
Posted by a parent on 2/5/2023This school has a drug problem. A major one actually, yet this school has no drug prevention education. They focus on vaping. Which, yes, is an issue, but I think students using hard drugs is a bigger issue. The bullying at this school is awful, no one ever gets justice, the administration is too worried about keeping the good name than to actually punish students. There’s been instances of homophobic comments, racial discrimination, and anti Semitic behavior from the students. When any of this information is brought up to administration they do nothing, there’s not even an investigation. The only time something did come of it was when the FBI was brought in for a suspected hate crime done by a group of amity students. Yet, Amity still tried to cover this up. If you want your child to be happy, thrive, and do well in life DO NOT MOVE TO THIS DISTRICT!!!!
Posted by a community member on 1/13/2022I moved here 4 years ago to give my children a “better education”. They do not care about the children’s welfare or parents input. The bullying that goes on in this school district is horrific and they keep covering it up. And it’s on all levels. I would not have even rated it one star if I did not have too. They don’t want to help the kids with special needs, and they force their beliefs on all children without parental consent.. Do not move to this district at all!

3/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AveragePrincipal Coleman and Assistant Principal Asarisi are undeniably All-Stars in the education community. To see such dedication and commitment to their profession and to the students is truly remarkable. Davis Street school provides an environment for learning that encourages students to be problem solvers, decision makers, lifelong learners, and contributing members of a changing society. Under Mrs. Coleman's leadership, I have observed teachers and staff work with parents and members of the community to enhance student learning and achievement. The teachers there seem to have a sound knowledge of the curriculum and bring meaningful and engaging lessons to their students. Additionally, they communicate effectively with students, parents, and other colleagues. Mrs. Coleman is well respected and appreciated by the students and parents. I'm confident that my kids will continue to have a positive and enriched experience there all the way to graduation!Parent Review5y ago - West Rock Author's Academy

N/AGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageWe have had 3 children go through this school (1 is in his last year), and we can't say enough good things about it. The teachers are beyond great and are completely focused on each child's individual needs/strengths. The Montessori method of teaching is, in our opinion, perfect for pre-school/Kindergarten kids. While learning community and working together with others, each of our children progressed at their own pace and looked at advancing to more difficult work as a privilege not a requirement. Each of our children entered 1st grade reading between 1 and 3 grades ahead, and had an equal head start in math and other subjects. I'm a firm believer that our children were not just taught material, they were taught a method of how to learn. It's served all 3 of our kids extremely well . Spending this kind of money on pre-school/Kindergarten is tough to swallow, but I can tell you from experience that the solid foundation provided by the Children's House has proved priceless. Note: I had to scratch my head when I read a negative review below (from 2006). We were there then, as well as now, and all I can tell you that it couldn't be farther from that situation for us.Parent Review12y ago - Katherine Brennan/Clarence Rogers School
