Wapping Elementary School

My son struggled with reading for a long time. It wasn't limited by his ability or intelligence, he simply wasn't interested, and therefore didn't waste time reading when he could've been playing outside or doing arts and crafts. The reading department, and all staff at Wapping were able to encourage my son to read by getting him interested in reading, rather than forcing him to learn. The school-wide Dr. Seuss day is a favorite program of mine, and perpetuated this sentiment. Thanks, Wapping! He can't wait for middle school!

Our kids attended 2nd thru 5th and 5th thru graduation when we moved here. This is an exceptional school as all the awards and accomodations indicate (sometimes these things are questionable, not here, this school deserves all the accolades). The teachers are great and I bet that came from the wonderful leadership of their long time principal, Mr. Graffim. An experienced educator, he guided us through any issues we had, such as, one child, who, after testing consistently high, routinely performed only average. There were no other issues really, the teachers each responded very well to our kids' changing needs. The other child, a high achiever, lacked confidence and had perfection issues, these "other than acedemic concerns" we felt were very willingly worked on w/ our kid, and we saw this same love and care given to all sorts of different needs as we spent a little time particpating w/ school events. Sometime as parents we tend to emphasize test performance type of things. These are measures of perhaps inate qualities and current attitude. Also very important for any kid's development is the quality of their moments and comfort in thier daily life, kudos to Wapping Staff!
