The best thing about this school is how kind and knowledgeable the teachers are. They go above and beyond to help the kids no matter there skill set . Some teachers offer after school assistance to ones who need it.

My oldest goes to this school and has been thriving. The support he has received has been excellent. Wonderful teachers counselors and staff. They have gone above and beyond to help his needs. Highly recommend PHS. My only complaint is the lack of foreign language options.

Do not send your children to this school!!!! I spent 3 of my four years in high school here and it was a truly awful experience. The School puts little emphasis on true learning, their main focus is the sports teams (mostly the male teams at that). The administration does not believe in bullying, they have a habit of sweeping it under the rug for their own sake. There are multiple teachers and sports coaches who act extremely unprofessional in the building as if it were their own home, this includes swearing, threats made against students, and even pushing their own political opinions at times. The school has very limited funding, they did not have any pencils or paper to give the students when they needed it for two whole years that I went there, and the roof leaked all over the building every time it rained or snowed. The test scores for the school are tragic, so little emphasis is put on academics here that honestly most of the students don't deserve the diplomas that are given out here, and most of them never even get a diploma anyways. Just take a look at what USNEWS has to say about the school. If your child is going here, good luck you will need it.

I would overall rate my experience at this school as a positive one. My time at PHS prepared me well for the rigorous engineering course load that I have experienced thus far at my University. You get what you put into your time at PHS, and if you challenge yourself, take difficult classes, and join extracurriculars you will find success.

I graduated from PHS in 2012 and the primary reason I'm posting this is to provide a more recent review. Some of the staffing has chanced since my attendance but not by much. While I was there I took honors where available and AP history. Along with those classes I took a good deal of technical classes there including CAD and 3D animation. These areas are where PHS shines, they had, and I maintain that they still do, an EXCELLENT technical education department. By the time I graduated I learned a large amount about Adobe Photoshop, Autodesk 3DS Max, AUTO CAD, as well as various video editors. Some areas where I found the teaching to be subpar would be in a few of the sciences, mainly the lower, introductory sciences you'd take as a freshmen. Above that we had some great teachers, my chemistry teacher held a doctorate in pharmaceuticals and my Physics teacher was a submarine veteran. One other area where quality was varied was the English department. My math teachers were excellent as well as history teachers. The biggest problem that I had there really was the students. Some are VERY disrespectful with no idea how important an education is and the few ruin it for the many,
