Read what parents are saying about Silvermine Dual Language Magnet SchoolBoth of my children have loved Silvermine! One just finished his first year of middle school and as a result of the excellent education he received at Silvermine has had high honors all year. My other son will be going into third grade, is performing well above average, AND is learning to speak Spanish. The teachers and the rest of the staff have always been helpful and super-responsive when I have had any questions. Low test scores overall are most likely due to this being a dual language program so it is not fair to compare it directly to other schools that teach English-only classes. I bet if they look at test scores in a few years, the student will be completely on par or above AND have the benefits of bilingual education.
Posted by a parent on 7/29/2021The school refused to address a kindergarten teacher who blatantly showed her propensity to discriminate against someone of a different race. In a school with a diverse group of students, this is particularly concerning. I would recommend enrolling somewhere else.
Posted by a parent on 2/1/2021I’m very disappointed in this school and the school district. An incident came about late last spring with one of the teachers where she was racially insensitive. I attempted to communicate this with the principal, Elizabeth Chahine as well as the person in charge of HR, Donald Burr. I just wanted to have a simple conversation so that it could be used as a learning opportunity. Neither individual wanted to take the time to even email me back and Elizabeth Chahine began screening my calls. In a world where we are constantly becoming more sensitive to issues involving race, I would think they would at the very least want to have a conversation. The fact that they wanted to sweep the incident under the rug and condone such behavior leads me to think that children of a certain skin color may be mistreated and/or discriminated against if they attend here. I would pick a different school.
Posted by a parent on 1/13/2021Test scores are skewed considering the dual-language format. We are so please with how our daughter is developing in math, science, art, reading and also developing a second language. Mrs. Chahine, the School Principal, fosters a warm and well-rounded educational environment.
Posted by a parent on 10/26/2019Excellent. The ratings are unfairly skewed to monocultural learning. My child is challenged, exceeding in her learning and enjoys going to school everyday and working with her teachers.

3/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageAmazing neighborhood school, where the kids academics and creativity get room to grow. It has a state of the art new library/media room with a full-time member of staff that introduces and challenges the children with projects on STEAM. As a parent of a child who needs special social and emotional support the school went over and above making sure that the child had the support and an effective framework to flourish within.Parent Review2y ago - Jefferson Magnet School

4/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThe principal and vice principal are wonderful, approachable, and put their best foot forward to ensure the students' success. I am very pleased with the changes that have been made over the last few years and look forward to my child graduating from his 5th grade class in a couple of years! The teachers are also awesome here! They love their students and bond well with the parents (at least in our case).Parent Review1y ago - Ina E. Driscoll School

N/AGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageWe have 3 daughters at Seven Acres Montessori, attending since 2018, so they have been at the school for 6 years now. We have experienced Toddlers, Primary and Elementary education. We love the strong sense of community in the school, with multiple events and opportunities for parents to get involved, develop friendships, help each other, and have fun as well. Our 3 children have very different personalities and ways of learning. We hugely appreciate the school adapting to their capabilities, giving them opportunities to learn faster or stretch beyond their comfort zone. Raising independent children, who get to explore and discover their passions is very important for us as parents, and we couldn't be happier with the Montessori methodology. I would encourage everyone to come to the school and observe by yourselves. Those observations are free, yet precious. Enjoy them!Parent Review3mo ago - All Saints Catholic School
