My son arrived at the school in 2nd grade. He did not know any English as a native Spanish speaker. He was assigned a teacher and additional instructional time and in only a few months he was speaking English and participating just fine in class. The next year he scored among the highest in English

Regarded as the top public school in New Haven, we expected a warm and supportive atmosphere. Instead what we found is a cold institutional atmosphere with a bully-principal. The diversity, PTA, programs, and teaching have far surpassed our other schooling experiences. We feel lucky to be a part of such a wonderful community and diverse school.

We value that the school offers bilingual / biliterate teaching in English and Spanish starting in kindergarten. This past year they added Arabic for upper grades. 5/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI've been at this school for 10+ years and these 10+ years have been the hardest years of my life just bc of how the school has treated me and how I was treated by students and staff which plays a huge part in my depression and anxiety. They don't truly care for the students until it gets noticeably bad and will let your grades and mental deteriorate without saying a word, they only mention grades when they're so bad and don't understand the circumstances or the reason you've let it get so bad.
