4/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageMy son attended this school 2 years. He's autistic and has ADHD. He said a child stabbed him with a pencil while I was out of town. My mom reported it and they says she can't get any info and she can't pick him up from school (I previously cleared this and verified she was on the list. It was only an issue after she mentioned this problem. This was the end of my trip). I basically decided to move after the principal did not make a report about it, and made it seem like it was not a big deal when I came to meet with him upon my return. Later there was another incident in which my son came home with scratch marks that were dripping blood on the back of his neck after I was assured (it was the same child that stabbed him) they would be forever kept separate. I mentioned it to the principal again in writing. He did not inform the staff of this incident. I went to field day and saw my son sitting directly next to the same child in class with their desks touching. They told me they weren't having problems any more so they chose to let them be together again without consulting me for permission after the stabbing. I also asked them for the entire year last year to show me what they are teaching my son. I got nothing but art work maybe once a month. No reading writing math. I stopped work to teach my son to read. It took 2 weeks. I even asked the principal in January after months of receiving nothing. Still continued to receive no work. I enrolled my son at a different charter school. He's been there 3 days. I was immediately notified of a slight conflict with another student. My son came home describing in detail how to craft a battery and power a light bulb with a lemon and some wire. I have NEVER seen him so excited about his education. Not only did they fail to teach him, but I noticed he regressed. After I taught my son to read it was months before his teacher even noticed. It's an actual shame what the school system here has become. Find a charter school or home school, or open enroll in a better county. It's embarrassing that these safety concerns were dismissed and only even documented because I demanded it. What a failure of our entire system.Somehow Hunters Glen was still a remarkable improvement on the last public school my son attended in this district. He escaped the school for hours and they didn't even call me until they found him in a creek down the road.Parent Review9mo ago13 Reviews - West Ridge Elementary School

5/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageOur child attended West Ridge from Kindergarten through 2nd grade before we moved to another state. This is truly the best school, and we miss it so much! When my son started Kindergarten, he didn’t speak any English. By the end of the year, he was reading fluently and speaking with confidence — now we can’t stop him from reading! I especially want to recommend Ms. Mendoza for Kindergarten. She is amazing, and my son also loved Ms. Kristin. All the specials teachers are incredible as well. Thanks to the art teacher, my child discovered a real love and passion for drawing.West Ridge is a place where every adult knows your child and genuinely cares about their well-being and success — not just in words but in action. Communication with parents is excellent: teachers and the office respond quickly and are always ready to help.I also want to mention how smooth and organized pickup/drop-off was — it never took more than 15 minutes, which made life so much easier.West Ridge is not just a school ,it truly feels like a family.Parent Review8mo ago11 Reviews - Brantner Elementary School
