Read what parents are saying about Cherry Drive Elementary SchoolThis is a school that exemplifies a focus on students, positive culture and willingness to do whatever it takes. Tight knit, amazing staff and a family feel we have been proud and appreciative of.
Posted by a parent on 1/24/2023We have had or son and now our daughter attend Cherry Drive from 1st through 5th grades. As parents we could not be happier with our kids education, the administration and base program! Our children loved this school, their teachers, custodians, office staff and administration have all been friendly, available and shown a propensity to give all they can for their students. The people who work at this school are invested in the children and year after year our kids have loved their teachers. A big thank you to everyone at Cherry Drive from our family , we will definitly remember our time spent at Cherry Drive fondly.Jeremy and Heather Goggin
Posted by a community member on 5/15/2017Both of my children have been at Cherry Drive from 1st through 5th grade. Every teacher has been dedicated to their students and very responsive to my children's needs. The office staff is great, the teaching staff is great, and the support staff is great!
Posted by a parent on 2/15/2017Students and teachers at Cherry Drive are very happy. My fifth grade student had the best year ever and it was because of the teamwork of the fifth grade team and Mrs. Hepp. Also, my 2nd grade student also had a fantastic year because of her teacher. I know a lot of teachers left, I don't care why, I'm glad that the teachers that are there truly care about the needs of all students. My child had some issues with bullying and it was taken care of swiftly. I would recommend this school to anyone who asks!
Posted by a parent on 6/20/2016The lack of communication at the school leads to frustration and anger. Most teachers do not keep parents updated or send emails. Their answer to questions is- check the website. The school has a bully problem, but sweeps it under the rug. The front desk staff is only nice to parents if they know and/or like you. Otherwise, they do not look up or acknowledge you. The District has to have noticed that our entire 1st Grade team of teachers, plus one 3rd grade teacher (with over 13 years teaching at the school) and another 4th grade teacher (also 10 + years teaching at the school) ALL left at the end of last year. There HAD to be a reason! Many families also choiced out. Why? Also take note- so many families have choiced out for next year, that nearby schools, such as Skyview, are now full, due to Cherry Drive students leaving Cherry Drive. Look at the scores and talk to community members before enrolling here. Principal Hepp is your friend until you need something or your child is bullied. Ask about the enrollment numbers. They are very low. Also, be aware this school is on an improvement plan. If your child has an I.E.P., be sure to talk to other parents here, Principal Hepp is NOT on your side, get an advocate!

4/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThis school changed so much with the new principal. It use to be very family oriented now it’s like a prison, kids can’t run, talk to each other, move from their lines or even say, hi! to their own siblings. I witnessed it multiple times and My daughter requested to change her from school, she said she was very unhappy because they treat them like they are in jail. This year she’s in a new school and she’s is very happy. I wasn’t the only parent that seen it and witnessed it. Multiple complaints were taken to the top. I wished… the last principle never left the school, Mrs. Craver is one of the best principals. She made you feels welcoming, and was always attentive to all the students.Parent Review8mo ago - Woodglen Elementary School

2/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageMy kiddo has been here for a couple years and has REALLY flourished in this school setting. All the teachers love him and he them, he comes home with great stories about his friends and teachers. If I ever have an issue to address they are on top of it immediately and reassure me that they will get it taken care of AND THEY FOLLOW THROUGH!! Which is really awesome. I have seen a rise in school safety, engagement, and support this year alone. As we approach the end of the school year, I'm really looking forward to seeing this school improve even more in the future. Hopefully it will still be like this when my youngest starts there.Parent Review1y ago - West Ridge Elementary School

4/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating Averagewith my enrolment in WRE for my young years, I can confidently say that THIS is how elementary is supposed to be done. at WRE. the teachers care about their kids and make a fun and hard-working environment for the kids. I have made the best memories and gained many values because of this school. the teachers are fantastic people. almost all of my most trusted adults are from WRE. I can trust the WRE will continue to teach kids correctly and happily.Other Review4mo ago - ThornCreek Christian School

N/AGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThis was the worst experience imaginable for my son. He wanted to go to a school where he can learn about God with other children. What he got was a nightmare. In a time where bullying and mental heath are hot topics in media and in all of our lives, you’d hope a school that claims to profess the love and kindness of our Lord and Savior would do everything they can to prevent that. Far from! My son was harassed and bullied all year long by his teacher and acting principal! He was constantly targeted, harassed and over punished destroying his self worth to the point of talking about self harm. We aren’t claiming our son does no wrong. Far from, but he was repeatedly tormented and singled out for things that are commonplace in a middle school environment such as talking, disruption and “disrespect”, which apparently is simply disagreeing on a topic or correcting misquoting of scripture. Over a dozen students have told us how horrible the teacher was to him and punished him for things all of them were doing. Some kids even told the teacher they were the ones doing something and he would still punish my son. My ex told the teacher about his ADHD and he blew it off without a care. He wouldn’t even talk to his therapist to try and find constructive ways to correct any behavior issues.Do you think the pastor or any member of the board sympathized or reached out in support? Not at all. In fact without even speaking to us, They were part of piling on and trying to ruin my son’s life. They insisted on expelling him even though we made it very clear we were willing to, and intended to withdraw him. He hasn’t been able to attend school in almost a month because of their refusal to speak to us or even give us the transcripts we’ve asked for repeatedly. No love, no compassion, no grace for a child who is at worst … a little annoying. Worst of all is they are allowed to hide from the “law” under the shield of religion, and one they most definitely do not honor or personally follow. This is the type of treatment that is pushing our youth away from faith at an alarming rate, not what you expect from people proclaiming to be representatives of Jesus’s love and mercy. I never thought I’d have to write a review like this, but I can’t in good conscience let something like this go without warning other parents so this hopefully doesn’t happen to anyone else.Parent Review3w ago
