Read what parents are saying about Chaparral High SchoolChaparral has been a friendly place with very hardworking teachers dedicated to getting through course materials. Only constructive feedback would be to reduce the quantity of tests/quizzes in classes, and grade the homework assigned thereby rewarding effort more. This high school weighs tests a lot, so this load will potentially a lot more difficult for students than their college courses will be. It is VERY VERY difficult to get all As at this school in the honors / AP pathway. Chap has great sports, a fantastic theater department, and many extracurricular offerings. Plus, the Chap blue and red crew has the BEST school spirit around! Love the Chap Fam!
Posted by a parent on 2/29/2024My daughter attended Chap starting as a freshman. It was made know to the school that she had a unusual potentially life threatening medical condition. Fast-forward to senior yr and and many frustrating accts with the school not attending to my daughters medical issues appropriately. We finally get to graduation and due to the sheer neglect of the school staff and lack of accomodations for her condition she ended up in the hospital after graduation. So needless to say if your child has any sort of medical issues I DO NOT recommend chap as they WILL NOT attend to the childs needs. Chap is more concerned about the status of their staff. Also I contacted the school to have my concerns addressed so that hopefully in the future no other children would have to go through what my child did. I was dismissed and told they didn't have time for me.
Posted by a parent on 5/18/2023Chaparral High School teachers, admin and staff are absolutely amazing! We have had 1 child graduate from Chap and have 2 there currently and we can't say enough about how awesome this school is! High school is what you make of it and when kids and parents choose to reach out and get to know the teachers, admin and staff at Chap, they find helping, encouraging, challenging and altogether awesome human beings who want to help the students reach their life goals.
Posted by a parent on 8/19/2022I believe most teachers are great and care about their difficult job. I appreciate what teachers do and love it when they give their students confidence to do well in their classroom as well as teach life lessons. That being said, there are some teachers (particularly AP teachers) who don't guide their students on how to do well on the AP exam, but, instead, go through the motions and stress the kids out. I believe such teachers due a disservice to having an AP program at all. I know not all of the AP teachers just go through the motions, but it's frustration when intelligent students are so frustrated that they become mentally ill. Also, this school's inability to figure out how Canvas synch's with Infinite Campus is VERY ANNOYING AND STRESSFUL! It doesn't seem like Admin cares about the mental health of their students, not do some teachers as students have actually spoke to these teachers and they could care less. Please make sure that your kids are handling stress and anxiety properly and don't assume that these teachers will take care of them, though most do!
Posted by a parent on 5/5/2022Overall, I had a good experience at chap. I’m currently in college and I feel that I was pretty prepared coming in. I made life-long friends at the school, and most of the teachers were really great (of course there were a few that sucked but that happens everywhere). Overall, being a student of color, I felt accepted by most of the students and nearly all of the faculty, and I had a lot of fun times there.

6/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageStrongly don’t recommend this school. Lack of holding kids accountable for bullying is a joke, process for handling situations is a joke and interrogating kids without presence of a parent or legal guardian is a joke which includes failure to provide details per each instance for bullying. This is coming from own child being constantly bullied but students and teachers. Some teachers are honestly good and decent human beings that do care about the kids, but a lot are two faced, treat kids poorly, high lack of taking ownership for their own poor actions, singling children out and angry towards parent when try to get details on what happened. Have tried reaching out to principal multiple times for help with problems with teachers, bullying, etc. and only advises to talk to the teachers , but doesn’t help any further than that. I’m just so over this school and highly don’t recommend to anyone. My child wouldn’t have had to go there this year, if the other schools tried to get into weren’t full already for the 22-23 school year.Parent Review1y ago - Pine Grove Elementary School
