As a parent whose child attended Willow Creek, I was somewhat surprised to see the school singled out in this way. Not because the concerns raised aren’t serious, but because they sound very similar to what families across the Cherry Creek School District have been experiencing for years. Willow Creek may have its own issues, but it largely falls into the category of many barely functioning schools in CCSD right now, operating with very little real accountability or leadership.Recent media coverage about district leadership helps explain why confidence has eroded. Families have learned that the former superintendent of Cherry Creek School District was married to the district’s head of HR, and that the former assistant superintendent was married to the head of special education. Meanwhile, the new interim superintendent appears to have spent her first months negotiating compensation while parents are still waiting to see meaningful improvements in the district’s direction. When leadership at the top raises those kinds of questions, it’s difficult to expect strong accountability further down the chain.Given that backdrop, focusing on a single principal doesn’t really address the deeper problem. The district’s administrative culture feels stagnant and insulated, and real change would likely require a full reset with new leadership across the board, including at the building level.Until that happens, the same issues will continue to affect schools like Willow Creek: administrations that seem indifferent to parent concerns, contract teachers who appear to be counting down the clock rather than investing in the school community, and facilities stretched to the point where storage rooms without windows are converted into classrooms. Willow Creek may be the most visible example of this culture, but families should understand that within Cherry Creek School District the grass is often not much greener elsewhere.

Dear Fox Creek Elementary The The pain you have caused me and my mental state is atrocious. And don’t even get me started on the fox trot $46,000 to the GARDEN like how they’re no way I just don’t believe it. Oh and the dance expedition one of the worst experiences in my lifetime like random groups like half of the kids are messing around and the performance ALL THE PARENTS are there and the only reason they are there is to not make there child feel bad. The food quality is yet another reason why Fox Creek is not a good school like half the menu is cheese bread and sauce or pure sugar like the “cherry muffin” more like cherry cupcake or the milk which is often compared to the wood chips and mud when it snows. And now apparently they thought kindergarten was to discounted so they forced 4th grade out in the two Mobile homes outside and yes there are around 90 kids like has anyone ever thought of something like a tornado and what about little Jimmy who needs to use the potty but it’s negative 23 degrees he going to get frost bite like the safety of this children tho. Now you might have heard of the Habits of Character now at first all these thing seem great like integrity and perseverance but once you’ve done one year you will never forget them and they over do it so much that once you leave the school and hear the word integrity you can’t help but gag. Tho there are genuinely good staff and teachers that can’t cover up the many blatant problems.

We have two kids that have gone through this school from Kindergarten to 5th. We could not this school and it’s teachers enough. Both our kids struggle with different learning challenges; one excels academically but struggles socially (ADHD) and the other has anxiety and challenges with comprehension so scores tend to be lower. The school has done an incredible job pulling in the right support where it’s most needed. They have a program called WIN “what I need” where they will place students with support teachers if they need more assistance in a certain subject. They also place students who are at a much higher level at a certain subject with the gifted and talented teacher, ensuring they are learning at a pace that is best for the student. This is why the test scores are much higher than other schools - they pay attention to individual needs. The administration is honest and caring - always makes time to listen to concerns and takes them seriously. We have experience bringing up concerns and they have always been met with compassion and constructive conversation. Our kids adore this school and have consistently thrived.

This school has exceeded my expectations! My son entered Kindergarten without recognizing all of his letters. By the end of the year he was proficient in sounding out words and reading simple sentences, now he is at the beginning of first grade and fluently reading even difficult words. I definitely continue to see progress in his learning. The emotional support of the Principle is amazing and if your child is having a rough day or anxious about going to school, she will personally come and greet them and take care of them. I have also been impressed with the school counselor-we have only had to have her help once since my child is overall well-adjusted and happy to go to school-but when we did, she gave us her cell phone and called us to ensure that our child was doing okay that day. All of the staff I have interacted with are very caring and provide a nurturing environment for our kids.

We only have experience with the preschool program, but it was enough for our family to ultimately leave. Overall, we observed misalignment among staff and leadership and heard similar concerns from multiple preschool families after deciding to leave. I am an alum, as are my siblings, and we had hoped this would be our long-term school.During Pre-K, we experienced ongoing communication issues, including unclear expectations, limited sharing of classroom work, and not receiving the mid-year assessment when it was distributed. Interactions with our Pre-K teacher were frequently discussed among parents as overly harsh toward both students and families. The school also strongly supports retention in Junior Kindergarten; in our child’s class, approximately 30% of students were recommended for retention, a stat they are proud of?Before leaving, we met with the principal, who acknowledged awareness of concerns related to the Pre-K classroom, though no staffing changes were in motion. Based on our experience and feedback shared by other families, there appears to be a breakdown in the transition from preschool to kindergarten.

I am sharing my experience as a parent of a child who is a minority and has a legally documented 504 Plan. Unfortunately, SkyView Academy has consistently failed to appropriately support my child despite multiple attempts on my part to work collaboratively with the school.The 504 accommodations have not been followed, and there has been little to no proper documentation of staff discussions or agreed-upon supports. To this day, I continue to receive dismissive responses, and no clear or actionable plan has been implemented to ensure my child’s needs are met.Additionally, many of the teachers are not employees of Douglas County School District but are instead hired directly by SkyView Academy. Douglas county school district will not take my concerns but asked me to work directly with skyview. As a parent, I have serious concerns about the level of training, professionalism, and accountability. My child has been spoken to in ways that lack respect and do not reflect appropriate educational standards.There are also ongoing issues with the school’s athletic programs. Families should be aware of unexpected and recurring fees. My child has been pulled out of instructional time to address payments for items such as a $25 warm-up jersey and asked to call or text a parent during class time, which is inappropriate and disruptive to learning.This is one of several concerns I have experienced with this school. I am now pursuing further action through additional channels to advocate for my child’s rights and well-being. I strongly encourage other families, especially those with students requiring accommodations, to ask detailed questions and document everything before enrolling.
