Granby Elementary School

My 7 year old son hates school because of Granby Elementary. That’s absolutely sad to me.

I don't think Great Schools Rating represents the real story here. This is an incredible safe and caring community and GES has some amazing teachers. So far I'm pleased with the K-2nd grades. Kids get all the electives including science, music, PE and art from K on up and class sizes are small with less than 20 in a class. The school has more turnover in students from seasonal residents than neighboring schools, which impacts test scores somewhat. The four day school week is GREAT and the after school program is a true gem.

My grandson is a 4th grader at Granby Elementary. Ever since he started school there in kindergarten, he has had wonderful teachers and personal attention. The music program under Tanner Denne is marvelous. The Minnesingers program is outstanding. I'm glad my grandson has an quality school in Granby!

My child went to Preschool at Granby Elementary and it basically taught him to fear school. It was the same thing everyday - no curriculum really. Just markers and paper and boring. :( I wish I would have researched more before choosing Granby Elementary just because it is the main school in town.

We experienced this school prior to an alternative charter school also in Granby. We had transportation challenges due to a job setback and other financial pressures. Principal called on day one and explained what they COULDN'T do to help us. One month later, district overruled and provided a solution that allowed our kids to return to school after one month at home. This is a very corporate and primarily budget-minded (vs. student-minded) institution. We all understand budget cutbacks, but the alternative school in the area is also subject to these and has a much better attitude and approach in spite of the facts. Would not recommend.
