Chappelow K-8 Magnet School

This school and district have gone down hill this year. They have money problems out the rear. There is rampant bullying from students and some of the teachers. The Principal is more concerned about being the "fun guy" than actually running this school appropriately. The school counselor is adversarial and nasty to the kids. They refuse to partner with some families to better support children, and if you advocate for your child, they will target them and make them suffer for the parent standing up for them. Teachers dismiss kids when they ask for help, and some don't provide their students with support. 504 and IEPs are not being followed. Some parents have started obtaining legal counsel because it is so out of contol. Do your family a favor and explore the surrounding districts that have better success and more competent staff.

The school has become a joke! I have had several of my kids go through Scott and over the years I have seen the lack of care of student well-being go down the drain. I saw my youngest child get bullied several times, and when I asked if the teacher did anything, they would but had no support from the top people running the school! The teachers look tired and stressed and unhappy, yet I see they do what they can for my kids. I am disgusted with how the principal has run things, from what I understand and even saw the bullies are not punished and it makes the kids not doing anything wrong feel miserable. Its disappointing that the school that used to care about the community has let down the families so much!

Dayspring has been an absolute gift to our family. Our kids are growing in character as well as thriving academically. We feel like our kiddos academic weaknesses are observed and solutions and steps are taken to promote understanding in weak areas. They aren't falling behind!!! We love this school!
