Read what parents are saying about Miller Middle SchoolMy grandson has had no support from this school or staff. He has been bullied and been exposed to drugs at this school. How the principal address the issues is to favor some of the students with no consequences and others get no support at all the consequences especially if you are a child who is Hispanic or Native American. They really need to get a staff that care about all children regardless of race.
Posted by a community member on 1/5/2023I do not believe this is a good environment for children. The teaching practices are antiquated and many teachers are inflexible, impatient, and often say things like, "It's not my job to engage children." Most teachers at Miller do not foster the positive relationships that are vital to success in middle school teaching. The data is sad-- very low growth, little equity; however teachers will point to this being the fault of the students, rather than poor instructional practices and lack of warmth. Students feel unwelcome here, and speak openly in the community about how much they dislike their classes, how bored they are, how much their teachers dislike them, how unfairly they feel treated, and how little control there is over blatant discipline issues that get in the way of learning. There is little to no control over cell phone use, so it is rampant in class--and again, rather than point to procedures and structures that should be in place to help middle schoolers learn to manage these tools, the teachers blame students, and punish rather than try to engage. Crew is not about building community, but a study hall or just time to watch movies. There are a few gems of course: the counselor, an occasional teacher, but overall our family has been really, really disappointed. We're fortunate to have been able to support our child while in attendance, and to be able to play catch-up academically so as to prepare for high school. It's a shame because there are so many wonderful teachers and experiences out there. I would recommend sending your child elsewhere for middle school if it is an option.

Posted by a student on 5/9/2022My son is now about to finish his 8th grade year. While there has been ups and downs, the teachers and administrators have been supportive at every turn. They listen to a parent's concerns and work with you to make things work for your child. Bullying is taken very seriously and isn't tolerated. They have the best interest of the student at heart and I will be sending my second child to Miller as well.
Posted by a parent on 4/21/2022Miller is not the best place to send your kid in my opinion there are a lot of bullies and some teachers have little to no patience and there's not a lot of support, there are some teachers who are great and do their job in a fun way. The building its self is awful there are only a few bathrooms and half the stalls don't lock and the sinks won't work either.

8/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageMy son attended Park from 2nd grade to 5th grade, through COVID. Of course, in hindsight, I think everyone would approach those years of COVID differently now. But everyone did the best they could. My son fell behind during that period, but had caught up rather quickly with the help of everyone and the summer bridge program. I think that Park has excellent leadership in their VP and Principal, the teachers have been caring and kind, the support staff are truly exceptional and personable, always making me as a parent, feel heard. The emphasis on social emotional learning, is a huge plus, in this day and age. Academically, my son felt challenged, he received support when needed . The school has a welcoming community feel to it that parents and children really enjoy. Bullying and bad behavior were handled appropriately and with empathy. Diversity and equity were exemplified and discussed as part of the curriculum, something that made my son a better and more worldly person. We were very blessed to be a part of the Park community for four years. Thank you to all the dedicated teachers and staff that make Park a great place for children to learn and grow as human beings. You will be missed!Parent Review11mo ago - Riverview Elementary School
