Read what parents are saying about Sheridan Elementary SchoolThis school is okay, if you don't have a special needs child. They don't accomidate need well. No special classes. Extended day and keeping kids until 5pm in just not good. Where is family time? And if your child feels ill, you won't know unless they are running a fever of vomiting. They make sick kids stay! Poor organization on conferences and it takes twice as long to wait for the families that need interpreters. We were 35 minutes past our time.
Posted by a parent on 8/17/2011Bad coordination, bad field days, keeping children til 5 pm, the staff just doesn't care about a parents wants and needs for their children. My childs test scores dropped being in this school. I'm very disappointed!

N/AGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageMy child entered as a freshman in the Upper School. He came from a middle school with a couple other kids. We have found the school to be incredibly cliquey and elitist, both the kids and the parents. If your child isn't matriculating up through the middle school at CA or isn't coming from one of the middle schools that puts a lot of kids into CA (Stanley British, St. Anne's, etc.) , be prepared to be an outsider. Our child has voiced this repeatedly. He actually said he feels unseen and unheard, as do we. CA talks a great game about kindness, caring, community and inclusivity but they certainly don't walk the walk where it matters - the kids and families that don't come in with strong ties and relationships. They are very lib ed and are moving more in that direction, having recently dropped a handful of AP courses. If your student wants to study business, finance, etc. in college, this school does not support that. The AP Econ teacher is a historian and has never taught economics. He is learning the material as he teaches it, which results in mistakes in the classroom and reteaching. I can't imagine the students doing well on the AP test. The college counseling staff does not work with big schools that have strong undergraduate business programs (UW Madison, Indiana, etc.) so none of these schools come on campus. They strongly push the small, liberal arts colleges on the East coast. We ended up taking over the college process ourselves. In a nutshell, if you are part of the "in" crowd, support a strong lib ed philosophy and want your kids to go to a small, private liberal arts college on the East coast, this is your place. If not, look elsewhere.Parent Review1y ago - Abn Christian School
