Scott Carpenter is truly well on its way to be a world class middle school
Posted by a principal on 8/25/2016This is our first year at Scott Carpenter middle school. So far the experience has been disappointing. There seems to be a lot of racial bullying going on. We have raised our kids not to judge others by the color of their skin but by their actions. It would be a great thing if all parents educated their children in the same manner.
Posted by a parent on 9/15/2014I have my own history with Scott Carpenter. I attended school @Scott from 1979-1980, yes I know was a lifetime ago. Now presently my child attends there. The teachers strive to help their students be the best they can be and are very genuine about it. Scott Carpenter truly is deserving of this money and would put it to very good use as any school would. Parents being supportive of their children and getting totally involved in their education, creates a huge positive impact for the kids. I believe as parents we should not only acknowledge and praise our children's achievements but let them know all they can do try their best. Failure is a part of life that's how we learn from our experience's and keep moving forward. Let your child know it's ok to ask questions never be embarrassed, no such thing as a stupid question when it comes to being in the classroom. Good Luck Scott and do hope it comes to you.I wish all schools could actually be so fortunate. Education is one of the most important valuable tools in life, our children are the future of our nations.

5/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageA lot of bullying goes on at this school, especially to the Caucasian students. Some teachers are also bullies. The middle school at teacher bullied my child. The principal is inapproachable. The atmosphere is horrible. There is no fun at this school. Art class is considered work. There were some excellent teachers and some horrible teachers..mainly the art teacher. This is not a safe place for Caucasian students.Parent Review4mo ago - Fairview Elementary School

4/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThe sped department has been combative and unsupportive, it is almost impossible to get your student tested. Students are mentally and emotionally traumatized by the staff. Parents are purposely silenced and complaints are literally refused. The school and the district need new administrators that actually care about the children and educating the children and teachers that actually teach instead of complain about their salary to the students during class. Even the receptionist at the front desk claims that she doesn't make enough money to check the main voice-mail box or return calls.Parent Review2y ago - Sherrelwood Elementary School

2/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageAfter teaching here for many years, I was delighted to finally get my chance to move to a different school. The leadership is atrocious, and it shows in every facet of the building. The Previous leadership (Years ago) had created a very tight and supportive community of staff and other stakeholders. The current principal has eroded this sense of community to the point that the overall attitude among staff members can only be described as toxic and disgruntled. Staff turnover each spring is well above any school I have ever seen, and in my opinion, it is almost exclusively due to poor treatment from the administration. For the most part, the teachers are amazing and passionate educators and try their very best to serve the community that they are part of, despite being treated so poorly. What students and families don't often see is how the teachers are consistently yelled at, outright lied to, blamed for the failures of the principal, micro-managed, and regularly treated in an unprofessional manner. The principal preaches the benefits of teaching the 'Whole child" using trauma-informed pedagogy, but most students don't even know who their principal is. They only know her as the angry lady who visits their classroom a few times per year to yell at them for whatever current "Fire" she is trying to put out, in order to look good to the higher-ups. Poor student behavior is so constant it is unbelievable. There is very, very little consistency in enforcing school policies and behavioral norms. The middle school population Is out of control, to the point that it is downright scary to be in that section of the building. Fights, vandalism, screaming of foul language, defiance of teachers and other staff, drugs, and general disrespect for the school run rampant on a daily basis.Teacher Review9mo ago - Holy Trinity Catholic School
