Read what parents are saying about West Covina High SchoolWest Covina High School provides many opportunities for students to engage with the school, not only through academics (which there are many Advanced Placement courses) but also many sports, arts programs, technology, and a very active ASB. The student community is overall very supportive of each other, and the staff works hard to provide the best for students. I would recommend this school to my friends!

Posted by a community member on 5/22/2023I am thrilled to share my review of West Covina High School, where my daughter had an incredible educational journey, particularly through her involvement in the ASB and Choir programs. The nurturing environment, dedicated staff, and outstanding directors truly made this school a beacon of excellence for our family. The ASB program, led by Ms. Wong, at WCHS is a great program. The exceptional leadership skills my daughter acquired through her involvement in ASB have undoubtedly shaped her character and prepared her for future endeavors. The program fostered a sense of responsibility, teamwork, and creativity, providing valuable opportunities for personal growth. The ASB director's guidance and unwavering support were instrumental in my daughter's development, and we are immensely grateful for her dedication to the students' success. The Choir program at WCHS has left an indelible mark on our lives. Mr. Wigglesworth is the Director of the Choir program and he has an extraordinary talent for recognizing and nurturing students' vocal abilities. Through his expert guidance, my daughter's singing voice blossomed, and she developed a level of confidence and skill that exceeded our expectations. The director’s passion for music and his ability to create an inclusive and inspiring atmosphere allowed my daughter to thrive. It is with immense pride that I share that her enhanced singing abilities ultimately led her to receive a well-deserved singing scholarship to a private university, opening doors to a bright future.Beyond the ASB and Choir programs, WCHS has consistently provided an exceptional educational experience. The faculty and staff members have shown unwavering dedication to their students, fostering a safe and supportive environment for learning. The school's commitment to academic excellence, extracurricular opportunities, and character development sets it apart as a great school.
Posted by a parent on 5/18/2023We had great interactions with our student counselor. We did have some issues with administration not being involved in school functions as well as showing intest in students (most admin was detached). Our greatest experience was with the Choral Department, having access to a dedicated teacher that encouraged talent, help regain self esteem and mentored in such a positive way made WCHS a fantastic stepping stone for our student.
Posted by a parent on 5/17/2023Both my daughters attend WCHS. They have had amazing experiences. My oldest has been very involved with ASB, and my youngest is in the PAA program. I can’t say enough about their learning experiences, the constant support they get from teachers and the safe and welcoming environment WCHS provides.

N/AGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI don't know if it's the exact same place but it was very close to Lark Ellen Avenue. I went to Dove preschool as a child in the early sixties! I am 62 and have vague memories of good times there! My 97 year-old mom agrees.Parent Review2y ago - Christ Lutheran Elementary School

N/AGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageOur two daughters attended Christ Lutheran school from age 2 (in diapers, thanks for the assist with the potty training!) until 8th grade, our youngest is graduating this year. I wanted to take the time to write a review after attending the most recent Open House this year and realizing how sad I was that we will no longer be at the school with such frequency. It really is an amazing school with a beautiful and secure campus, small class size, wonderful teachers and an attentive administrative staff. Both our girls received a comprehensive education, and the older daughter was well-prepared for AP classes in high school. Standardized testing consistently shows each class tests above grade level, and I was surprised by the testing this year that factually demonstrated no learning loss over the COVID shut-down across the school. The school works hard to provide a quality education and yet keep tuition costs reasonable. We compared tuition across several private schools in the area and when tuition costs are compared when factoring in the "extras" like day care, sports fees, lunches etc., the school compares very favorably. Although COVID prevented some of the outdoor education trips for our younger daughter, my older daughter still remembers her class trips to Yosemite, Catalina and the East Coast trip fondly. Both girls have benefited from having been at Christ Lutheran and matriculating with a core group of friends they have known since pre-school. The parent community is actively involved in the school. Overall, the school is a small family and we will miss it!Other Review1y ago - South Hills Academy

N/AGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI sent my daughter and son to South Hills Academy elementry school in 2022. They had very good experiences there. First, we appreciate the fact that SHA is a Christian faith-based school, where my children can have a safe and focused environment to learn not only the knowledge of God but also the academics. Second, SHA has a group of well-qualified and specialized teachers to teach the classes with advanced curriculumns. My children even got opportunities to participate Math Olympics and Spelling Bees in SHA. Last but not least, the teachers and staff in SHA are very friendly and caring. When there are questions and concerns, they always show great patience and are constructive. I would recommend South Hills Academy to any Christian or non-believer family who are looking for alternatives to public schools.Parent Review2mo ago - Immanuel First Lutheran School
