Read what parents are saying about Vallejo Charter SchoolVallejo Charter is the worst school I have ever encountered. When I let the school know my kindergartener came home with a bullet in his pocket. The principal responded with, “yeah, kids find bullets sometimes. It just happens.” When I visited the school I saw my autistic son being beaten up while another child threw food at his head. When I informed the staff member who refers to herself as the (vice principle) She responded with, “Yeah, that’s been happening.” The school never told me he was being verbal and physically abused!! Instead of addressing the bullying problem they isolated my child from his peers and his education and had him do crafts in the office. They also attempted to have us increase his medication before recess, INSTEAD of handling the bullying problem. His teacher had no control of the class and seems angry to be there. We are still pursuing options to hold the school accountable. Vallejo Charter does not offer an equitable education but they do offer endless excuses
Posted by a parent on 5/26/2023Covid really took a toll. The program is not what itwas pre Covid. More Parent involvement is needed. They have lost a lot of great teachers the last few years.

Posted by a parent on 2/1/2017Until Common Core crept in changing focus to taking tests and achieving test scores that allegedly show proficiency from learning in depth long term understanding, my son I we're very happy and blessed to a part of Vallejo Charter community of students and family. Unfortunately the school had to step back from the expeditionary model it was founded on, where competition is only in terms of ones own self to a competition against the city, state, and nation for high test scores making teachers worthy of pay increases and the school worthy of funding. Our last year here and I pulled my son mid year and put him in private school out of town.
Posted by a parent on 7/5/2016The kids are babied a lot. Middle School kids are still required to walk in line like elementary school kids. They are spoon-fed until maybe seventh or eighth grade. Once they are in that position, they are smacked right back into the real world, trying to get the right high school courses for their level. I think one way to prevent this is to be hard on your kid, but out of love. Living in reality is the best way to live. Other than that, the kids are taught about perseverance and compassion, which is huge while growing up. It's just having the child know that education is the most important thing they have going for them. Staff is also very loving, and want to see the children succeed.
