Upland Elementary School

DON'T GO TO THIS SCHOOLHere's why:Its great education, terrible community. I went to this school, and I've never had worse mental health. These people work well, they teach well, but they never have the student-teacher connection a child needs in order to thrive. When there's an issue, they never know how to handle it other than simply scaring the child into how they'll call your parents. That's it. Especially when it comes to the G.A.T.E program, again- great education, kids are always excluded from activities that help them learn to socialize. Once they're away from the school, they'll either be happy they're with the liked group, or they'll leave a depressed and left out child.

My son just got promoted from Baldy View Elementary and I can say I would send my future children to attend this school. Teacher conferences were very frequent and informative. Administration was big on safety of the children which is of the upmost importance to my wife and I. Thank you Baldy View for these past 6 years.

This school is great! The teachers are wonderful, they really care about their students and try very hard to create a happy environment. Both the principal and vice principal are engaging and actively participating in the kids and families. This is one of the best schools in the area for students with IEPs and/or special needs. They do not pull the kids from class constantly like some other schools do nor do they have a negative reinforcement approach. I highly recommend this school!

My son is currently in TK. He is autistic level 2 nonverbal and is unable to be potty trained currently. Since the first Meet the Principal event, where I informed them of his diagnosis and need for an IEP, they were quick to jump in and help with any accommodations he required. The IEP process was quick and smooth, and he had a whole village of people supporting him on the IEP team. It has been like night and day compared to my older son's IEP process at a neighboring elementary school. My little one has grown so much since his first day of school. He can now read, and went from parallel playing to making a few friends!

My child has been bullied by her classmates at this school, and the teachers did nothing to help. The teachers mistreated her, and the counselors never listened to her when she spoke up. Most days, she would come back home crying. The teachers were rude, and one time a teacher wouldn't let her go to the restroom for the entire day until school ended. I wouldn't recommend this school to anyone.

i played basketball (5, 6th) against st. joseph’s many times. but this one game in particular was absolutely unacceptable. the players from st. joseph’s kept HITTING my own teammates. two were hit in the face multiple times. i personally was elbowed in the sternum, and hit in the back. absolutely disgusting and intolerable. the worst of all was that the coach was ENCOURAGING the players to keep fouling our team. these are not catholic values, and this is what the school allows. the school allows parents like this to coach YOUR children. find a better school with better values and parents.
