My son has started in Kindergarten and is finishing the 5th Grade this year.Heritage has it all - academics, diversity, activities, and parental involvement. Is it perfect? Of course not. We've had issues with some teachers, some students, and some parents. But everything was resolved in a fair and reasonable manner. What I like best about Heritage is that there is no racial nor class majority. The school is possibly one of the most diverse elementary schools in Orange County. There are schools in Garden Grove Unified where there are no White students. There are schools in Newport Mesa Unified and Orange Unified where there are no Asians. And there are schools in Irvine Unified where there are no Hispanics.Heritage has it all. So my son has a very good understanding of all the different people that live in Orange County.

As a minority, my only issue with this school is the lack of diversity. My children have had several instances where they have felt left out, not accepted, or simply unable to make bonds with others. At one point my 4th grader was told by a group of children that they were making an Asian only club and she couldn’t play with them anymore because she wasn’t Asian. The front office staff aren’t the nicest either. One is nicer, but the other one has a very passive aggressive attitude. She doesn’t seem like she cares about the parents or the well being of the children at all. Over the two years we’ve been at Heritage we’ve experienced two really great teachers. And two that weren’t so great and didn’t or much effort into their job other than simply teaching and doing the bare minimum. We’ve had two other teachers though who were amazing and really went above ans beyond and seemed to genuinely care about the children.

Heritage Elementary's focus on STEAM and project-based learning makes it stand out among the other schools in TUSD!

This is a S.T.E.M. Magnet school and kids are encouraged to learn through problem-based learning approaches rather then traditional learning methods. My kids are excited about school projects.
