My oldest child attended Rio up until 6th grade last year when we sold our home & unfortunately changed schools. We're now in the Lodi School District (Stockton school still) & let me tell you...we miss Rio so much! Everything about Rio is awesome! The crossing guards are great & really do keep the kiddos safe by making sure drivers abide by the school/traffic rules. The front office staff is so attentive, caring, & nice. The principal (Gina Hall) is really on top of it, so involved, & doesn't tolerate any disrespect or bullying from her students. You can even find her walking the grounds, interacting with students, & helping the crossing guard after school. On top of having a great principal, Rio has AMAZING teachers! We've only ever had a problem with one teacher (kinder) at Rio, but thankfully she has been long gone. The teachers at Rio seem to love their jobs & their students. I had 3 kids at Rio & ALL of the teachers (aside from that one) I've encountered over the years have had excellent communication with me & seemed to really care about my kids & their education. I'm a very involved parent, so I've come to know hundreds of students & dozens of teachers/staff. This school is huge on parent involvement & does so many family events throughout the school year. On top of that, the teachers are always willing to allow you to come to their class, & they even set up class activities for parents to attend. My children have always been at the top of their classes, & I love that Rio notices that and will provide extra or accelerated work for them to continue to be challenged. I've never doubted my children's education or academic progress while they were at Rio & noticed that they were more advanced than some of their older cousins and friends who attended other schools in Stockton. My children & I have loved all of their teachers at Rio, but these ones deserve a huge shoutout: Mrs. Heredia (kinder), Ms. Malonzo (kinder), Ms. Speers (1st grade), Mrs. Aninag (2nd grade), Mr. Boccoli (4th grade), Mrs. Davis (4th grade), Mr. Le (4th grade), Mr. Pham (5th grade), and Mrs. Pichardo (6th grade). Now that we've changed schools, it's made me realize even more how amazing Rio is. I'm really considering a transfer to go back for next school year even though we live so far away now. The things my children are being taught now at their new school, they learned at Rio the grade level prior. WE MISS YOU RIO! THANK YOU FOR 6 AMAZING SCHOOL YEARS!-Crispin family

Not a good school. Too many horrible kids that are a terrible influence and many of them are way below average.

My son has ADHD and the staff has been helpful in helping him. The only thing I would like to see more opportunity for children in the afterschool program
