Stevenson Ranch Elementary School

We did not have good experiences at this school.Considering Covid lockdowns and mental health for the children we felt the 6th grade teacher was not mindful and kept raising her voice on my son and her harsh discipline gave him anxiety to attend school. We also had issues with safety and bullying - one time there was a homeless man going to the bathroom outside of the fence then we also had issues with really rough kids bullying my son who's a huge 5'5 11 year old basketball player they kept bothering him at the basketball court and when things didn't go their way they waited for him in the park next door. Thankfully I ran fast at pick up to break a possible jump on my son. After 2 months we left this school. It was a combination of a strict 6th grade teacher that was over the top yelling for minor issues and embarrassing him infront of the class and also the rough kids. I was also concerned regarding academics coming from a Charter school in the Valley the first few months of 6th grade were easy for my son because he learned in 5th grade already so, that was an other reason for leaving - I hope this review is helpful.

The learning is mundane, the education is average, you won't know your child is doing horribly until you get their report card because the teachers will just smile in your face. Teachers and administration play favortism so get into the PTA and you'll be fine (their kids can do whatever they want). The park next door has homeless people (often). If your child has an IEP or 504, no one cares, they don't follow it. BULLYING is horrendous and clearly no one can do anything about it (as stated in another review). If your child is anything but white, good luck (see review about kids being bussed in, and how they didn't pay for that and read between the lines). The bright side, there are TONS of meaningless but fun family engagement activities and if you're in the "click" you'll love them! The school is run by a group of parents and though the principal is nice, her hands are bound by that.

Employee at the school blocked my special-needs granddaughter in so we could not get her chair out. She proceeded to tell me it was a public street and videotape me when I called the school. They had no concern.

The principal is very friendly to kids, and my child felt very welcomed at the school. The staff and teachers are very dedicated, which was very impressive. I especially felt that my child (currently 4th grade) is well cared for at school, her curriculum is very organized and productive. Each year, she had a wonderful teachers. I also liked the staff, especially, one of staff, the Korean lady in the office made me feel like family—so welcomed and well cared for by the school, very professional. I highly recommend Oak Hills. My second child will also be joining TK this year, and I cannot wait to see how she thrives!

Pico Canyon Elementary is truly a special place! The moment you walk onto campus, you can feel the warmth and positivity in the air. The teachers go above and beyond to make every child feel seen, valued, and supported. They create classrooms where students are encouraged to be curious, kind, and confident learners.The administration is just as wonderful—caring, approachable, and always putting students first. Communication with families is consistent and genuine, and it’s clear that every decision is made with the children’s best interests at heart.The school culture promotes respect, inclusivity, and a strong sense of community. My child feels happy and excited to go to school each day, which says it all.
