San Miguel Elementary School

We have been a apart of St. Helen for many years. We have seen it go through many changes and all of them in a positive direction. At this point in time St. Helen has an excellent team of teachers that truly care and believe in what they do. I read another comment about parents being "cliquish" and even though I can see how they may think that, I believe there is a larger amount of parents that are great at this school. You can't judge all parents because of one group. I simply stay away from that set of parents and concentrate on working with all those other parents that have the same interests that I do, which is working together to keep making this awesome school even better. Kuddos to the teachers, the hardworking staff in the office and the principal. Those ladies in the office take care of our kids as if they were their own.

I am a father of 3 but my only son has attended this school with his cousin he has entered since kindergarten I have attended the school myself for his birthdays sometimes but the first grade was too harsh for him he had probably a not so good teacher she would yell a lot and get kids into a lot of trouble including my son one day he was taking a spelling test (which he’s really good at) the teacher handed it out and everyone began he said a couple minutes pass and he’s done and turns in his test he sat back down and waited for his test to come back graded he started humming for the meanwhile but then the teacher heard him and yelled who is humming!? She said my son asked what’s humming? She asked him if he was humming to which he replied yes the teacher was not happy and got timeout at recess. He still attends the school which he likes now but the staff probably is to much sometimes I think of placing my some elsewhere but he refuses. I don’t like the school but I don’t force him to get out of it I’m just worried that to much might get to his head one day the school is so outdated that my son came to me one day and said that the Jesus statue finger was blasted off by a kickball. The school has its unfairness and favorites within the school faculties and staff another time my son went to the bathroom he came back to his class and realized that everyone had gotten punished because someone allegedly sent my son to the bathroom and since then problems and problems started rolling within a year with the new principal my sons says that she maybe too harsh and keeps the school too strict and another day my son was playing soccer with his friends my son kicks a ball near his soccer coach which he was playing with them the principal comes out and sees what’s happening and immediately calls him when she’s done talking to him he goes to sit down while my son and his friends were waiting for him to come back but he never did my son went to go talk with him and since he was friends with his teacher he said that the principal told him to stop because he might encourage to kick the ball harder and maybe even hit someone to which he responded but there’s not out here? To which the teacher points towards the softball team girls which means that she had told him to stop playing with my son and his friends because the softball girls were training and my son told me another thing that earlier before the incident my son was hit by a softball the principal saw and did nothing
