Rosedell teachers and staff provide an enriching environment for learning. Cohesiveness amongst grade level teachers and staff. School has received numerous awards and accolades for their education program and quality of learning for the students. Excellent principal, who is involved and dedicated to the excellence of the school.

I am not sure who left the positive reviews, because what they wrote does not reflect the situation in this elementary school. Some of the school office stuff abd district employees are also parents and their own children have, those kids are treated exeptionally well. So I assume it's them.What you need to know: 1.It is very hard to be a parent of a student at Plum Canyon Elementary. Most of the issues are from the lack of organization. The administrators in this elementary school could care less about parents, so they do things that work for them. They will invite parents of the entire grade (6 classes at least 10 kids are nominated from each class and most have 2 parents and sometimes also grandparents). There is almost no seating. Most of the parents are standing in a packed room for an hour and a half. Could they have nominations for 2-3 classes at the time? Yes, they could, but they prefer to do it in one day, because it is convenient for them.2.There is a huge problem with bullying in this school. They do not do anything and they just punish a child if they hit/push back or even cry, because it is inconvenient for them to take measures to stop bullying, they just switch the responsibility to the children and require them to take the hit.3.Being a parent of a child with a disability or anything unusual in appearance or speech is walking on eggshells every. Your child will be bullied. The administrators will ignore it and lie in the reports and postpone the investigation until the last minute. (they apparently have 60 days to investigate each incident, if they start asking kids the same day, the kids tell what kids, who hit looked like and what the kid was wearing. But if you wait two months before you investigate, the kids will not remember what exactly happened, when it happened and it’ll be hard to identify who was involved, so administrators will conclude that bulling could not be proved). The principle is only concern with her employment and compensation, not kids well-being.

School ask for money a lot. Fundraisers, teacher birthdays, holidays, and more. Although we did contribute in many ways and the school raised a lot of funds over the last year through the fun run, etc. they rarely ever gave back to the kids. They had like 2 field trips in that year. They weren't anything special. Nothing to brag about and not really fun at all. They made thousands upon thousands and even when they organized a school carnival, etc, it was only about getting more money from parents. I expected so much from this school and repeatedly was let down. I can't recommend it in good faith. I feel like my kids could have learned so much more. But you live and you learn and this school was a lesson to be learned. Focus more on growth..less on asking for money and if you do insist on asking parents for money then actually give back with fun stuff. The amount of activities versus what was donated or raised was far less in value than what you got out of it.They deserved better than this. Bullying is another issue. Seems a lot of these kids were born and raised here. For outsiders, good luck.

My daughter has been a student at this school throughout her elementary years and is now in 6th grade. Unfortunately, I am seriously considering withdrawing her to pursue homeschooling. There is a significant lack of training among staff in Social-Emotional Learning (SEL), which is crucial in addressing behavioral and interpersonal issues at this age. Additionally, bullying is rampant among the 6th-grade boys, many of whom exhibit inappropriate behavior that goes unchecked. It's concerning that some of these boys' mothers work at the school and appear to dismiss their children's actions rather than hold them accountable.Rather than addressing the root causes of bullying, the school's approach seems superficial, relying on spirit days and themed activities like wearing jerseys, which do little to resolve these issues. The lack of proper supervision and effective consequences has left me frustrated and disappointed. I had higher expectations for the environment in which my daughter would learn and grow.
