Read what parents are saying about Kathryn Hughes Elementary SchoolThis school cares more about test scores and funding than actually helping any students learn. My daughters first grade teacher wore heels and talked about her upcoming wedding on the first day of class. If you’re kid is struggling they spend more time trying to kick you out instead of helping them learn. Got kids bringing alcohol to school. They spend money on fancy lunch calendars and planners instead of aids to help the teachers with teaching.
Posted by a parent on 12/1/2021This school is wonderful! When I first saw the GreatSchools score, I was a bit hesitant. However, after reading parent reviews, I was a lot more hopeful and decided to send my kids here. I’ve been a Hughes parent for a few years now, and it’s a phenomenal school. The teachers and staff at Hughes are truly caring individuals. It’s not the prettiest school on the outside, but it’s got what truly matters- kind, caring teachers who are working hard to help your child succeed regardless of where they start. They’ve got a positive behavioral intervention program that highlights positive actions, and encourages kids to make good choices. My kids are coming home learning not only academics but also how to be a good citizen, help their classmates, and make their mark in the world. Kids are encouraged to be themselves and individual differences are celebrated. The office staff is super helpful and they seem to know everyone’s name and face. The principal, Mr. Young, is really kind and always makes himself available to talk with parents, even when he’s busy. This is a great place and I’m happy to be a part of the Hughes community.

Posted by a teacher on 8/29/2018Ratings do not truly reflect what Hughes is as an 'overall' school. Exceptional teachers, principal and staff. Great PTA members, and strong community presence. I feel my kids are in a safe environment where they are continuously learning, participating, and happy. Thumbs up for Technology on campus and YMCA! This school deserves a 8-9 rating!!
Posted by a parent on 8/4/2015This school is excellent , Im sure the API score is going to go way higher as I see lot of Asian & indian kids inflow(the usual driver of scores) . Being an Asian my self i push my kid a lot on studies, this school works for me great as the curriculum is clearly structured and the kinder garden teacher is very helpful in following up my kids progress in studies. More emphasis is given to creativity here and structured learning . On family get together we usually have competition within our kids where adults ask questions on science , math etc ... to grade our kids :) My other 3rd grader who has been in this school since kinder garden is as equally progressed similar to his private school counterparts in my relatives who has been through challenger and stratford. Im sure the API is going to skyrocket to 900+ pretty soon. Good luck.

N/AGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageWe took our child to GIS Pre-K and now he is in kindergarten, we have nothing but positive to say about this school! Our son is enjoying every minute of it and even on his day-off he is asking us if he can go to the school. The teaches and school staff are very friendly, they have the same programs that all the other schools have and most important they teach the kids how to behave and the religious values. I see some negative reviews from the parents stating: too much homework, teaches are too strict, kids are bullied...etc None of these are true, to me this looks like these are the parents who are expecting for the school to provide everything because they are paying for tuitions. It doesn't matter what school is your child going to attend, we as the parent we always going to be involved, and there always going to be homework's, educating your kids from the young age is not only teaches job but the parents job as well!Parent Review6mo ago - Rainbow Montessori C.D.C.

My son is a picky eater so feeding him was always a challenge for me but Ms Perla helped him and guided him to eat independently .Ms Lin was always there whenever he needed her.i am so thankful to you all from bottom of my heart for taking care of him like a mother at home and teaching him good habits and making him independent like a good teacher at school. Now he is going to G4 tomorrow. I really hope the same treatment from the teachers of G4Parent Review4mo ago - North Valley Baptist School

N/AGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThe school teaches the children how to think, through biblical and personal examples. The school teaches the children truth, from the authority of the Bible. Graduates are armed with discernment, logic, grammar and rhetoric skills. These are widely missing from society today. As a parent, I feel safe sending my children to the school knowing they are not taught inappropriate ideas or morals. The students are taught to respect others. If you come across the students, they will address you as sir, ma’am, Mr. Mrs. Ms. etc. “Yes sir” and ‘yes ma’am” are words you will hear in their responses. It is a privilege to attend this school. Not because you live in the area, but because you are from likeminded families who attend North Valley Baptist Church. It is a ministry provided for the church families.Parent Review11mo ago - Rise Academy
