George Washington Carver Elementary School

All 3 of my kids went to Heninger. I know on this website, the school has a low rating, but as a mom and educator myself, I see all good things at this school. The teachers are amazing, patient, available, highly competent, and caring. The principal is awesome too- works hard- keeps things positive on campus- keeps parents informed. Everyone in this school is taught to play violin. Great community too!

Wilson provides a caring environment where each child's education is taken seriously. The expectations are high and each child is encouraged to do their best. Like any public institution, sometimes the process of qualifying students for extra help takes longer than we would like, but small groups and interventions are put in place meanwhile. The staff gets along well and works together to help the student population. There is a one star review mentioning a principal that is long gone. The current principal is caring and puts each child's best interests first. The school rules are be safe, respectful, and responsible. The PBIS program provides detailed steps for how this works at each level. Routine assemblies reward children for behavioral and academic objectives met. There is also a priority put on rewarding students who may be behind but are making progress. The office staff is caring and competent. The biggest compliment I can give is that I would feel comfortable if my own child was going to this school.

I love that almost all of the teachers within the school are so helpful. The staff are always willing to help out, and the students that talk with my kid are always so helpful. Dual enrollment has really helped with teaching my daughter Spanish and helping her talk to her Grandma now that she knows the language. 10/10

My siblings go to this school. They are horribly bullied and no one does anything about it. Its gotten so bad that my mom is going to homeschool them instead. Not to mention that my brother (7) got a literal behavior report (the ones that stay on a student's record FOREVER) for pretending his book was a rocketship. I cannot sit there and explain to my 6 and 7 year old siblings why no one is willing to listen to them or treat them fair just because they are a bit different from the others. It's heartbreaking.
