Hidden Hills Elementary School

While this school is recognized for its academic reputation, our experience in the primary grades suggests a significant imbalance between the 'advanced' curriculum and the developmental needs of younger students.The curriculum is aggressive, and in our opinion, the teaching strategies—particularly in mathematics—can be unnecessarily confusing for students still building foundational skills. It often feels as though the school relies heavily on parents to bridge the gap at home to maintain the expected pace. During parent-teacher conferences, we found the focus remained almost entirely on academic data; there was very little discussion regarding a child’s social-emotional growth or their comfort in the classroom environment.With the recent and significant increases in tuition, the expectation is for a more balanced and professionally supported educational experience. When young children express feeling a sense of fear or pressure regarding the classroom atmosphere, it suggests that the academic 'rigor' may be overshadowing the need for a nurturing environment. A curriculum is only as effective as the ability to adapt it to the emotional readiness of the students.
