Bollinger Canyon Elementary School

This school is absolute gem. The level of learning is exceptional and the teachers are so highly motivated by a love for learning that you will not find better, anywhere. The key for me is something else though. You have a student body that is highly driven and there are so many high achievers that the fear will be that "my child will not fit" or the "competitiveness will make the experience uncomfortable". I had those concerns but the student body didn't compete against each other. They were supportive of each other. They competed against the outside, against tests, getting the work done but NOT with each other. This is created by the Dorris-Eaton culture and it starts from the very top and includes everyone who works there. The physical campus is crisp, clean and sunny. Drop off is easy and parents are very respectful of each other. We considered many excellent schools before choosing Dorris-Eaton and I can tell you that the choice was not easy. I guess in the end I can say that the level of work and achievement is super high but if your child is transitioning from a less rigorous environment the school knows how to get your child up to speed (it worked for us). In sum, the choice of a top level academic school came with substantial social and personal strengths and development as well. It was not an either or. My child got both at Dorris-Eaton. IMHO If your child gets admitted he/she should go there.
