Roosevelt Elementary School

Roosevelt is an excellent school. The parents are very involved, lots of support from the PTA and dad’s club. Teachers and staff are friendly.

We sent our kids to this school and over the past 10 years it has slipped from a 9/10 to 5/10 on Great Schools. I mostly get the decline. PTA was run by SAHM’s 10-15 years ago and many working parents, myself included, were turned off by meetings and events held at 10am on a workday, mostly because we couldn’t attend. Result was that as those parents aged out and terrorized other school organizations in upper grades, big gaps were left in the Roosevelt committees and big fundraising events like the Fall Festival completely fell apart and are now a shadow of how good they used to be.Teachers- if you get a good one (yes, everyone knows who they are), it is an amazing experience and if you get a teacher that is checked out/unaware/unmotivated, it’s a messy and unfocused year that is full of frustration. Our daughter’s second grade teacher decided the school year was over around mid-May in 2020 and just ended all of the online schooling even though there were 3 weeks left of school.If your child has needs of any kind, whether social-emotional, learning-based, or are on the spectrum even a smidge, look elsewhere. This district and especially this school, is not equipped to manage or help families that need any extra assistance. The number of families that I know of that left the school and district due to lack of support for dyslexia, bullying, ADHD or ASD is mind boggling. Despite all this candid feedback, our overall experience was neutral-> positive. If our kidshad needed more support than they did we would have pulled and gone private in a heartbeat.

Surprised at the Great Schools rating because we've been more than pleased with how much our child has been advancing since kindergarten. There's a very involved parent community, great resources available and the teachers continue to challenge the students in the best way. Hope they get the recognition they deserve! It's a wonderful school.

Lovely school from K through 4th so far for our kids. They’ve thrived, made great friends, loved their teachers, learned to love to read. Nothing more that we could ask for.

The leadership at this school is excellent.The teachers are phenomenal and engaging.The staff in the front office go above and beyond every single day.
