New Traditions Elementary School

The school needs a new approach to what theyre doing, a lot of what I see as a parent feels very ingenuine. Also this school tends to attract a lot of social warriors who make small comments about other parents who cant contribute as much as they can. Rememebr that volunteering and family engagement signifies the family is privileged enough to do so, but it feels like the familes who do contribute are superior to the rest. Also, the demographics of the school doesnt reflect that of the city so when they talk about social justice and wanting to promote that, yet the school does the bare minimum when it comes to outreach to recruit students for a better diverse student body, you wonder, does the school really care or are they just putting up good looking signs for ppl to see? Lastly, the test scores tell the story. Theres a obvious disparity between demographics so that begs the question of if the teachers are teaching? or is it just the parents or privileged kids who tend to pass, because only the white kids appear to be passing the state tests. Compare the statistic to other schools in the district or KIPP, New School, it seems Creative Arts isnt doing as good of a job

Frank McCoppin Elementary School was originally established in 1896 and still stands proudly today as a strong, tight-knit, community-centered school that I am proud to say both my children attended. The school fosters the importance of lifelong learning and appreciation for students of diverse backgrounds. This is reflected by the families, neighbors, and local business communities that come through to support the children's educational journey in our great city. I have a child that has completed her studies at Frank McCoppin and has moved on to a local feeder middle school at Roosevelt Middle School nearby. Her success and ability to navigate this part of her education I feel, is largely attributed to her foundation at Frank McCoppin. From the educators and administrators that give all their best...the thoughtful programming that our before/after-school care programs provide...to the employees that proudly keep our school running safely - all these experiences matter to our student experiences, and their learning outcomes. In future looking back in retrospect - my children and I will always keep Frank McCoppin Elementary as a school that is near to our hearts.

After transferring from another SFUSD school that was ranked higher, we are having a much better experience at Grattan. Ms. Walter makes all the difference in the world with her energy and focus. Every morning she leads the school with clap in and her presence and attention can really be felt. We have a 1st and 3rd grader and both students have wonderful teachers and are making great academic progress. Icing on the cake is the GASP after school program. It is great, our kids love it, and they have homework time as part of the day.We are very happy with this school and if you can get a spot Go For It!

Staff turnover at KIPP schools in general is very high. There's a reason for that. They don't value their employees at all. And there are numerous instances I can remember of kids needs being outright ignored. A

Best choice we could have made as parent to have our daughter attend this school. Parents are engaging, the kids are happy and challenged at the same time.
