Read what parents are saying about St. Francis of Assisi Elementary SchoolWe have had a great experience at St. Francis Elementary! This is our fourth year at the school - our child first started in TK and has continued on from there. St. Francis not only provides a great educational foundation, but I think they really give students lessons that can last a lifetime - how to be active in community, mindful and caring people, living a principled life, etc etc. Children do receive a lot of instruction in a number of areas, including performing arts, Spanish, and technology. Additionally, participation in prayer service and mass, not only provides faith formation, but many opportunities for public speaking! The school cultivates a friendly environment with many opportunities for parent participation and family activities (like the Back to School BBQ, pancake breakfast, etc). We feel very a part of the school, have a good understanding of what's happening in the classroom and our child feels very supported.
Posted by a parent on 3/9/2023We have loved our time at St. Francis and are going to be quite sad to leave next year when our son finishes 8th grade. St. Francis is more than a community -- it is a family. We have enjoyed the educational environment and the recently adopted IB program has been an amazing addition to an already solid educational program. The teachers and staff all support the children in every way from the classroom to the playground to the church and beyond. The administrative staff is responsive to parents and is sincerely concerned about each child on campus. I cannot say enough wonderful things about St. Francis of Assisi Elementary School and know that our son has been shaped into a strong young man because of the education and guidance he has received at St. Francis. There's no better choice in Sacramento!
Posted by a parent on 4/20/2021We have been at St. Francis since our oldest began kindergarten there four years ago, and now all three of our children are enrolled. We have always loved the community and that even endured (if not just virtual) throughout the pandemic. The academics are top notch and all of the teachers have been stellar. We have also always gotten the support we needed. We recommend this school to everyone, whether you are looking for a Catholic school or not.
Posted by a parent on 4/20/2021When our children were nearing tk / k school age, we researched and visited several area schools as we looked for a great fit. St. Francis of Assisi was the school that checked all our boxes. First and foremost, a healthy and loving community of teachers and staff that had the students' well being - both short term and long term successes - as their primary objective. We've now been here for 4 years - several years we had a teacher that was new to the school. I personally find that to be a great test of the culture and vision that the school maintains. In each instance, the school demonstrated their commitment to the kids through the hiring of amazing teachers - even through the 2020 pandemic, these teachers have been great in all ways. It all starts at the top, with the great principal and vice principal. Mr. Hrga and Mr. McCrimmons are proven leaders through even troubling times. I highly recommend St. Francis Elementary.
Posted by a parent on 1/13/2021We could not be happier with our choice to send our daughters to St. Francis Elementary. The community is warm and welcoming, and the teachers and staff are committed to fostering academic excellence and spiritual growth for every student. For our family, a robust performing arts program was essential, and we love how the arts are woven into the academic and co-curricular school day with Ms. Stites' music classes and in-class theatre performances. Principal Hrga knows each child by name, as do all the faculty and staff members, and they work together as a team to provide a holistic education that recognizes the individualism of each child. My children feel safe and loved at school, even in the midst of the pandemic, which for us as parents is invaluable. We are so thankful to have found this wonderful school community.

N/AGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI worked here for 8 months as the 1st grade assistant teacher and the kinder enrichment program leader. My experience was nothing but enjoyable as the staff and management were very kind, supportive, respectful, and professional. Materials were plentiful for teachers and the school would order anything else needed for the class. There was lots of room for growth/promotion within the school for myself and others. Management is flexible with time off, offers good benefits, and offers plenty of support and encouragement.Teacher Review1y ago - Sacred Heart Elementary School

N/AGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI would give this school 0 stars in all categories if I could. What you’re reading in the negative reviews is sadly true. First, the lower grade teachers are very young and highly inexperienced; they simply do not have the skill set to manage these kids - especially if you do not have a child that perfectly fits the mold. HIGH turnover. Classes are big, loud, and teachers have little control over the chaos. Unless your child is perfectly compliant and willing to sit in silence with their hands clasped the entire day, you may get by. ZERO resources and/or willingness to support a child with learning differences - they are deemed a disruption to the classroom and will be forced out. There is no school counselor, no music, no regular foreign language, and the art program is laughable. The school puts all of their energy and effort into school fundraisers, and next to zero towards building a stronger academic program or resources for the kids. LOOK ELSEWHERE!!!Parent Review3w ago
