Read what parents are saying about St. John Fisher Elementary School12 years and 7 children happy with SJF. Good family, faith-filled, positive, and challenging environment for children. Thank you, SJF!
Posted by a parent on 9/11/2022St. John Fisher School is an amazing community school! We came to this lovely K-8 school two years ago and could not be happier. First, we were impressed by the responsiveness of the staff and the clear focus on academics. While we moved to Palos Verdes for the schools, of which I am an alum, we have been so much happier at SJF. We found that the teachers are truly devoted to their students, and they pay attention to whole child development. Teachers go above and beyond responding to parents’ concerns. Not only does the school foster intellectual development, but they are also have community service requirements as well as service to each other and various athletic programs. And check out those drama productions – they are entertaining even if you do not have a child participating! Both of my daughters have been at their happiest at SJF. They both have smaller classes where everyone is a friend. I love coming to volunteer and seeing all of the grades interacting, and all students helping each other out. My oldest has even developed such an affinity for Mass that she goes during the week in the summer. It is a special place.
Posted by a parent on 8/29/2022SJF is a gem of a school that offers a caring and nurturing community. The principal has been a driving force at the school for over 20 years. She serves as a strong leader and a respected guide for students and parents alike. Her warmth and care for each student is evident in her accessibility and day-to-day involvement. The small class sizes and challenging academics have been amazing for my children. They both are excited to go to school. In our experience, their peers are warm and families are like minded in their goal to raise kind individuals. Academic success is celebrated and children are urged to learn and explore. It brings me great joy to see my kids build life long bonds and be surrounded by teachers and parents who genuinely adore them.
Posted by a parent on 8/29/2022St. John Fisher school has small class sizes which allows the teachers more opportunity to help those needing the extra help. The teachers are accessible and accommodating to help the students. They have specified days called "study hall" that allowed any students that wanted to stay after school to work on their homework and get help as needed. Teachers are creative in finding fun ways to teach and keep kids engaged. The school incorporates faith to daily learning as well and the kids participate in mass services once a week. The teachers are kind and compassionate and strive to make sure all kids are doing well. The school offers opportunities for students to take leadership roles in various activities. And also has the "family groups" which helps students work together during the year. There are many opportunities for parent involvement and many opportunities to get to know everyone and build lasting friendships. The location is very nice and safe. My kids are happy to go to school every day and love their teachers.
Posted by a parent on 7/1/2022Wonderful school with a great track record. A change is needed with Principal Hudani, hopefully that will come soon.

N/AGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageOur son has been at Discovery World a little over year and a half and we have been very impressed. Discovery World uses Tadpoles as one way to keep us up to date with what our son is doing daily. Tadpoles is a service to share pictures/videos/comments with parents which my wife and I found to be fun and very helpful. I had never heard of Tadpoles before but I think its a great feature that more schools should use. The teachers would also meet with us periodically to give us an idea of what to expect at different ages. All of his teachers as well as the administrative staff have been great, caring, and communicative. The school name is fitting as they have the kids use their different senses to experience all sorts of things that I would never have thought of. Weekend trips are occasionally organized so kids can experience more of what they are learning outside of school. They also use sign language which was helpful with his communication at home at a young age and it still comes in handy. Discovery World is open 7 days a week until late at night, very convenient if needed. We are constantly amazed with the vocabulary he brings home. Our son has grown leaps and bounds and we think this school has really helped him.Parent Review8y ago - Rolling Hills Montessori
