Read what parents are saying about Desert Learning AcademyDesert Learning Academy is an excellent school of choice for all kids in the Coachella Valley
Posted by a teacher on 12/4/2017This is a blended school, in which all coursework is done online, but there is a campus students can go to during hours to meet with teachers, complete tests, participate in labs, or just to socialize. Each student at this school is given a lead teacher who he or she meets with weekly. This system ensures that no student is left behind and everyone's needs are met. The teachers, counselor, and principal all work together to ensure that each student has a chance to succeed, graduate, and possibly even go off to college. One con about this school is that it is brand new, so there aren't a lot of clubs or approved AP classes yet. However, there is ASB, leadership, and yearbook. We also have AP World History, both AP English courses, AP Statistics, AP US History, AP Calculus AB, AP Psychology, and next year we will have AP Environmental Science and AP Government. Oh, and the school is K-12 not K-8 as some websites state. However elementary, middle, and high school students are always in different parts of campus and have different lunch times.

N/AGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageWe moved from out of state, where my child was in a Montessori. Hence we did no check the details prior to enrolling our child. However we were extremely disappointed with the academic curriculum of this school. A child who is far advanced, was left behind with little ones, with no focus on academics. Towards the end of the school year, feel like we paid to see our child get behind. They must be good at little kids-for potty training etc, but when it comes to older kids-stay away, unless you have no real choice. Staffing keeps changing, there is no real curriculum. And A LOT of homework!! All the positive reviews are mostly from the staff, who have their kids in the school.Parent Review2y ago - King's Schools Of The Desert

N/AGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI can't speak for the Elementary but the Middle School kids are taught disturbing topics outside the CA DOE curriculum and outside the teachings of the Bible. Very unhappy my daughter spent a year at this school rather than another Christian school in our valley that focuses on what kids are suppose to be learning at this age in addition to Biblical teachings.Parent Review3y ago - St. Theresa

N/AGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageUnfortunately, in order to post a review, I have to give it at least one star. However, this facility does not deserve any stars. It truly requires a special individual to work with children, especially in a facility like this one. It's disheartening to learn about incidents in this establishment that go undocumented or unreported. Employees at the facility are mandated reporters and should not be afraid of retaliation from their employer if they witness any misconduct or mistreatment of children and should report it, yet they have failed to do so. If your children attend this facility and witness anything that should not be happening, please talk to them about it.There is an older male individual working at this facility who should not be employed there. Despite numerous complaints of this facility, no action has been taken to address the issue. Regrettably, my grandchild has been a victim of this facility due to this man. Witnesses have reported that he pulled my 18-month-old grandson's hair to teach him a lesson about not pulling another kids' hair. Furthermore, they have seen him forcibly shoved him down to take a nap. This behavior should not be tolerated and needs to be thoroughly investigated. Unfortunately, my grandchild is too young to communicate anything to us, but his behavior has changed since he started attending the facility. He would cry uncontrollably when being dropped off. The individual in question has denied the allegations, which is understandable given the impact it could have on the business. According to former employees, there are camera recordings or footage in the vicinity. However, they claim that the owner routinely erases the footage, making it difficult to obtain evidence. Licensing should reassess the current owners and their management of this facility. Supposedly, they are reviewing the 20+ complaints, but how many complaints are necessary before they take action? Will it require a severe incident to prompt a response?Parent Review2mo ago - CREATIVE BEGINNINGS MONTESSORI-ELEMENTARY
