Read what parents are saying about San Jose Intermediatethis school is terrible! all this school cares about is gum and phones. if they see you chewing gum you get a referral and get detention. if you have your phone in your pocket you get a referral and get a detention. but if there is a fight, a bully or vaping they literally dont care. i swear. The food is literally so gross. my child found hair in the food. the only problem they actually tried to solve was “the bathroom vaping problem.” the 6th grades were feel unsafe because the 8th grades were vaping. so they decided to separate the bathrooms. they gave the 8th grade girls a bathroom with only 2 stalls and one of them was broken and never was fixed. from all the way across the school you could see the persons feet who is that stall. but then the 6ths got the brand new bathroom. also the boys who smear poop on the wall. the people who strangle at school are not being helped. the drama class is so spoiled. they get so much money for that program for no reason. if you saw the band program all the instruments are falling apart and there is no stable teacher. also the school doesn’t have enough teachers. they literally give untrained people who don’t know what there doing to “teach” the students. PLEASE IF YOU LOVE YOUR CHILD DONT SEND THEM HERE!!!
Posted by a community member on 8/30/2023The school is a mess. The teachers seem to hate their jobs, the bullying is left without consequence, the food is disgusting, the bathrooms are broken half of the time, racism is out of hand, can't go a week without seeing some group of kids doing the Nazi salute, there are fights almost every week, teachers neglect struggling students, high achievers are left unchallenged, and you get detention for chewing gum or having your phone in your pocket. Don't send your kids here if you love them.
Posted by a student on 3/10/2023My 6th Grade daughter entered this school void of a social group or any interest in communicating with peers. The mere thought was either unnerving or a waste of time. This introverted stance grew coming from an unbalanced, unorganized Middle School where the word “equity” was thrown around like confetti, but rarely shown in action. Sadly, the affects this had on my 11-year-old, naturally shy and intensely creative, stunted her ability to grow socially. Upon entering day one of San Jose Intermediate, she was met with cheering, positive energy and the epitome of equity and inclusivity by staff and a WEB Team of students!!! That made all the difference like no other could. A child dreading to attend her third school in 3 years, she was met with pure & genuine intentions of a great start FOR HER & provided information that shaped the already tremendously successful year. We are grateful for the strength of such resilient educators and professionals like Mike Casper and her all-time favorite teachers & librarian Ms. Rivera & Mrs. Brown that made an incredible impact from the beginning. The Crossing Guards, Maria & Chris, they make each morning better by warm greeting and nurturing behavior, second to a parent!!! Being parents of three, we were challenged with finding a successful “fit” where we knew our child would thrive, be safe in the most competent hands while pulling in grades that prove she wants to be there. It truly doesn’t get better than this. We applaud NUSD and recognize each employee from the Principal to the brave men that care for the grounds & janitorial onslaught students leave behind - I have yet to meet a dud.

N/AGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThe teachers in this school are very professional and the students are very friendly. Neither of our two children's mother tongue is English, but after a year here they all got A grades in all their subjects. MCA is not large,so the principal, teachers and parents can get together, just like a big family!Parent Review2y ago - Big Rock Sudbury
