As a family, we had a fabulous experience at Mayflower. The staff was outstanding. The PTA was very welcoming. Our kids have fond memories and are still friends with kids from Mayflower.

After complaining that children were being really mean to my son upon starting 1st grade late into the year, the Principal told us the following when my son started defending himself “we don’t have students that are bullies or hit like your son”.We transferred my son to a closer school to get away from bullies at his last school and heard amazing things about Monroe. Wrong! My son has ADHD and I fought constantly to get him assess. Once they finally listened and he was diagnosed and got an IEP plan, they stopped fighting me so much. But overall, they do not care for your kid. If he does something as children NORMALLY do, they will not be taught and corrected, they will be punished.When kids started hurting my son, they tried suspending my kid until I made them check the cameras. That shut them up real quick.If you care about the social and emotional well being of your child, AVOID MONROE at all costs! Terrible terrible and they should be shut down! Wild foul mouth children and supposed educators who are obviously tired and look like they work in a prison instead of a school.We go to ODYSSEY now and my son can finally be himself. He feels safe and making friends. Everyone is sweet and parents involved all so our children can have the best education and experience.RUN and don’t move to Monrovia for the schools, the old days of good education their is gone and should not be used by real estate pros to push up prices and demand. Spread the word that the schools suck their and maybe they will care enough to change it if the housing market feels it…

Toxic environment led by principal that cares more about her position than the students. The principal gaslit us about federal law and procedures regarding IEP, which was frustrating and we only found out after consulting an advocate and lawyer. The school district will try its best not to provide services and accommodations to special needs kids. Teachers are rude and uncaring, causing trauma to very young children who cannot advocate for themselves. We had to transfer after multiple incidents with the teacher and staff. Until they find new principal and teachers, do not trust this school with your children.
