I am a current student in LGHS, and I like this school. When it comes to tests/quizes, teachers give us kahoots and quizziz to study. In one of my classes, notes are allowed to be used on the tests. The student council provides help with choosing the right classes, and getting part time jobs. The classrooms look like factories. When I was getting enrolled in this school, I didn't know what electives to choose, it all didn't seem right for me and I wasn't sure if I should try it. But after I saw the school and classrooms, I wanted to try EVERYTHING in there. The lunches are good, there are a lot of choices. Even if I don't like something, I'll still have something to eat. Lunch lines are different from the middle school I was in. In middle school there was 1 lunch line, and here there are 2. Teachers make learning really fun. There is also college and career center. There they tell us about different colleges. The school also gives us good volunteering opportunities. At first I was nervous, because I had never done volunteering, but then I found out that it wasn't so bad, in fact, it was great. There are also tennis courts and a pool. I'm not doing sports, but I know that there are sports teams, and wrestling classes. During PE there was a swimming unit and we were also taught about how to do CPR and Heimlich maneuver. These are some great life skills that will come in handy. I think it's a great school. But my parents complain that there are so many emails coming from LGHS, and it's only from my school. I think that it's more emails than from my siblings' middle and elementary schools together.

Los Gatos High School is a very well rounded school with some very unique programs for students. Overall LGHS is known for having outstanding athletic teams, but it is also known for having very good teachers who value teaching. My son who recently graduated enjoyed almost all his teachers. The first unique program is the New Tech program which emphasizes tech and a lot of group work like the real working world. I hear kids love the program, and that is has particularly strong teachers, but it is not recommended for the super high achievers. The other unique course is the advanced science research course which is a year long science fair project course. Acceptance by interview. The students and teacher win many top state awards. One recent female student scientist got into MIT by proving plants talked to each other (not joking). The robotics team is relatively new and made it to worlds twice in a row which is hard for even established teams to do. One of its strengths is it is more student led than say a Bellermine, a world champion, providing a much richer hands on student experience because adult mentors are more in the background. However, some student led strength has diminished as team systems get more established. LGHS possible negatives it could use more diversity .It is about 70 percent white, 20 Asian, 10 mixed race. There may some tight cliques but I think that the high school offers many diverse clubs and activities that most kids including transfers will find their niche and like minded kids. I also have a lot of respect for the administration, they seem to really care about the kids, but I can’t speak to how they handle bullying. The school offers a ton of APs including European history AP taught by a very strong teacher which Palo Alto high school does not. BUT LGHS needs a legit third math lane for the most advanced math students who were a little bored. This problem was solvable by skipping ahead and taking college level classes at nearby West Valley senior year. Many of these kids made it to top engineering schools regardless like Berkeley, but a full third math lane would make LGHS more competitive and better serve the more advanced students. Re possible Ivy track I would call it a work in progress. Growing now ivy acceptances often from athletic scholarships or legacy. Lots near Ivy acceptances like Berkeley and top engineering schools. College counselor is awesome, seasoned and wise. LGHS opens a lot of doors with less stress!

We moved to LGHS half a year ago with the hope to get a better school. Since then a series of bad experience happens which could fill a whole book. Newcomers definitely are NOT welcome. Snobby and selfish appearance is common. They don’t what to deal with concerns. You have to shut you mouth to get a bad grade instead a worse ones. Some teachers give group grades which shouldn’t be allowed. Learning out of you misstakes is also not given. Because the teacher are not abel to write a nother Test for next year students. Especially in math is it a joke. The kids are only allow to look for a short time on the test without being allowed to take notes. The teachers show laziness but expect the opposite. ... model role...???!!!

Our daughter is a Freshman at LGHS. She is loving the entire experience. LGHS has a great balance of strong academics, sports programs, music, dance, drama and clubs. It’s a wonderful school for those seeking a well balanced High School experience for their kids.

Both my daughters attended Los Gatos High School and were able to get into top universities. I think they got a well rounded education and the teachers and administrators were always engaged and accessible to both parents and students.
