We have two children at Grant; both in the College Prep magnet. Our eldest is graduating this year after spending 4 years here. My wife and I did not know how well Grant would be received by the college the community, but our daughter got into numerous colleges throughout the country. She has decided on a great school back east that she is thrilled to be attending. In fact, many of her classmates got into very good schools, from UCLA, USC to great schools back east. It showed us that if you do well at Grant, you will have numerous college options. Also, the campus is in the midst of a $170+ million renovation that includes adding several new buildings and modernizing the rest. The campus has a great college like feel, with a wide open mall area for kids to congregate for various activities, surrounded by the campus buildings. Our experience with the teachers that we have interacted with are that they are very serious about their jobs. It's my impression that many people believe that public school teachers do not care about their job or the students, but that is not the case here; your child will be challenged. Grant also offers numerous sports options, with the boys basketball team winning the City title two years in a row. There is good student support for the various sports and great camaraderie among the students. We have no regrets sending our children to Grant.
