Twenty-Eighth Street Elementary School

I attended San Pedro Elementary more than twenty years ago. My son was enrolled in their preschool program last year and my daughter currently attends their SRLDP program. My nephews and nieces have also graduated from this school and now attend a Magnet High School. I have nothing but praise for this school. The principal and dedicated staff have turned the school into one of LAUSD's best schools in South Los Angeles. Through hard work and the belief that all children can succeed, they have become a model for other schools to follow. I commend Mr. Carreno, school principal, for his great leadership, dedicated teachers, and friendly office staff for their wonderful work.

The staff and teachers are great. I'm very happy with the education they offer to the children.

Nice school on the outside and there are some nice teacher’s but very few. When one covering for an Assistant tries to reach out for help. One has to deal with teacher’s and personnel covering up “sketchy” situations when one tries to relate a concern on a student. The personnel of this school finds something to blame on one. And let’s one eat whatever the school finds and doesn’t care on the wellbeing of one if the teacher and personnel covering their own “sketchy” situations causes the one who is an outsider to be “Separated.” The personnel of this school only cares about the school’s spirit and the fanciness of the school. As far as some of the teacher’s go, there are very few who give the time of day and actually care about their student’s. The Assistant’s, Sub Assistant’s, Recess Aid’s, Helper’s, Volunteer’s and as well as one’s to whom ever else that I might have missed on this list who work or cover at this school suffer because of Personnel and certain teacher’s trying to maintain an image. REGRET BIG TIME COVERING FOR THIS SCHOOL!!! All those who are about to take on a job here. Please be aware. Oh, and anyone who post’s review’s for this school is alway’s the first to review because either this website or the school doesn’t want others using this website to find out the truth.

I personally attended this school when I was younger, I’ve come back to it online and through a younger family member and from what I’ve heard it hasn’t changed much. This school might not perform the best on state tests but it was incredible at providing a safe and encouraging learning environment for all of its kids. I remember going in groups to the schools library and choosing books to read, I remember the rainy days where the kids sat inside and chatted, the introduction to stem, and the large playground with things for all grades. This school doesn’t deserve a low overall score, from a first and second hand account it should be rated much higher.(Thank you to all my teachers for making it as good as it was)

I have nothing but praise to give about Dolores Huerta. I have a 4th grader and a 1st grader who attend this school. And I couldn't be happier. The quality of learning they have been receiving has been excellent. The teachers are caring and committed to their students. The principal and the rest of the staff are helpful and friendly. I find them to be professional yet approachable. As a parent I appreciate that aspect, as I feel comfortable communicating with them. Should I have any questions or concerns I know they will be glad to assist me in any way they can. The school is kept clean and safety is always first.I find Dolores Huerta elementary school to be a wonderful learning atmosphere, and I am proud to say my children attend this school.
