Read what parents are saying about St. Frances X. CabriniTeachers: The teachers at this school try the best they are can with the VERY limited resources that they are given. This isn't necessarily the schools fault, but the Archdiocese. My family and I have been a part of this parish and school since we moved to the area in 2006 and there is a very high rate of teacher turnover here. There is not one teacher who stayed from those days and I don't blame them. The pay is abysmal even by Catholic school standards and the teachers have to do things outside of their job description. Administration: I do respect the principal for not giving up on the school like others before her, she has been at this school since 2010/2011. However, I do think she can improve on the way she communicates to her staff and parents. She's a bit old school when it comes to that.Religious education: The religious education here can be improved. SOME of the teachers here are a bit antiquated with the way religion is taught which means students are tuning themselves out. Programs: The school has way more programs and activities than when I was a student here, so I'm glad to see it is going in the right direction in that sense. Overall, not a bad school but like many other Catholic schools in South LA, outdated practices, and lack of financial support and teacher turnover rates are keeping this school from achieving its potential.

The principal is not good at determining what consequences students should have. This is why many students are either getting severe consequences like suspensions over minor incidents as well as why some students are getting minor consequences for major incidents. They would rather handle situations students are involved in directly with the students and not inform the parents. Especially if the situation is something that the school/principal and teachers could be at fault for. A specific teacher sees themselves as higher than others. Doesn't treat her students with proper respect and this takes a toll on the way they are learning in the school. There is also a significant amount of favoritism in this school. Coming from teachers and also from the principal. My student has brought this to my attention and it is now something that I am able to notice. The good thing about this school is that this school does offer counselors for the students and also has many activities in which the students, parents, teachers, and staff come together. Also many issues with feces being smeared around the school/bathroom.

N/AGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageWhen I first started here, I had a 3 grader. AWESOME... The following year, I put my 2nd child in for Pre-K. AWESOME AGAIN. I wish I started my oldest here. This is truly a hidden gem and I would highly recommend more students attend Pre-School through 4th grade. The staff are outstanding. The cost was cheaper than others I've attended. I would hate to see this school close down. If you are looking for that strong foundation, Woodcrest is a GREAT place to start.Parent Review6y ago
