Read what parents are saying about Murchison Street Elementary SchoolI work at this school and it honestly is a mess. The students are disrespectful, the parents are as well. The staff is unable to really do their jobs because the principal (Elvira Juarez) has purposely left out Special Education students from activities because they might “ruin” an assembly that was supposed to impress the school district. The principal doesn’t allow the teachers to work effectively and enables not only students to be bullied but staff as well. The staff also has checked out and spend most of their time bad mouthing one another or the children.
Posted by a community member on 7/19/2019I am a parent this school has really disappointed me in every way that staff and teacher's have their favorites, kids are always getting bully and they don't care as long as their getting paid theirs only a couple of teachers that really care for the children and some of the parents that volunteer in the school are just there to be nosy.
Posted by a parent on 9/21/2014This school has some of the most dedicated professionals I have ever met. Principal Gutierrez is a portrait of what a great principal should be. Her poise and grace transcendes lives every day. She is supported by a cast of individuals who combine experience, talent and pure creativity to enrich the lives of our students. Murchison is able to take what the district gives them and make miracles. I would like to especially recognize Principal Gutierrez constant support for the Arts and Dance. Principal Gutierrez and Drill Team Coach Natalie Ortega have worked together for over 7 years with underpriveleged boys and girls in the world of dance. It is because of them that Murchison can be proud of something more than just the day to day smiles they provide. Our young dancers have experiences National Championships and have travelled across the country showcasing their talents. It is schools like this that should be highlighted for doing things although no one is looking. Murchison is really a great school.

4/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageExcellent. I don't know why this site has it so low in grading when there's other schools that don't offer after school, programs, meals, classes for parents, and help for us parents with kids in special needs. Let's not forget counseling .Parent Review6y ago - Evergreen Avenue Elementary School

7/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI have two children who attends this school. The principal sends a weekly update every weekend via email to let me know what's coming up this week in addition to the daily text and monthly calendar is that sent home. I appreciate that she understands how hectic our lives are and supports us in staying connected to the school. My kids are happy and love their friends and teachers. There are a lot of activities both during school and afterschool for community building. They hold themselves to very high standards, which I appreciate as a parent. Lastly, I've attended a couple of the parent workshops over the years and appreciate the relevancy for me to apply what's being taught. Because I work full time, I can't go in person but I like the zoom option.Parent Review8mo ago
