Posted by a community member on 6/9/2017I am a current 8th grade student here at Hollenbeck. I'd have to say that the principal isn't very attentive about the students, it's more about the school. If you see, she's always concerned about how the school should be; always making changes and never really paying attention to how much it effects students. For example, she has tooken off so many electives and teachers. Back when I was in the 6th grade, the school was a bit more better, at that time, the students had more opportunities to interact with both teachers and students plus get to participate in various activities! But over all, I'd give it four stars. Mostly because the teachers at least care about the teachers, an so do the staff! If it wasn't for them, we'd be in a much more worse case! And also a little help from our counselors to increase the percentage of students culminating!! (:
Posted by a community member on 4/13/2014i went to this place that is called a schoo;l it is not a a good place to learn most teachers are on their own subject and personal life. when i attended this school i was ready to learn but most teachers would just teach and would not help you understand the subject. i left this school with nothing not even school pride.

4/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI am a community advocate, and I have always been told by the parents this is a great school. They like the administration, the teachers are devoted and excellent educators, so why is Charter School trying to take over? No more take overs from Charter schools or by the Partnership, they have not been proven to work with the teachers or the parents, and they have not shown improvement, except that parents rush to take their children out of Charter Schools, why?Other Review10y ago - First Street Elementary School

N/AGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageIf I am being honest don't send your kids to this school, it is utterly a mess, everything is just for money. The teachers aren't patient and those who were left to better places. I can say this because I experienced it as a former student. The school makes it unfair for those who financially un-stable. If you are looking for a school with joy, non-bullying, non- attitude teachers, strict but makes it fun, non- charging everything, don't go here or send your child here. They want things that only contribute themselves. Just until a couple of months ago they " Remodeled," the school, when I mean remodeled I mean paint over the walls and water fountains and the bathrooms have been there since 2006. The staff don't put any effort and are not patient, the only hard working person is the lady in the office. My family even have experienced many things there, and wouldn't go back. The school and community change your child and the teachers make it very hard and never really go through a explanation until they understand they just go over briefly and don't even care to ask if they understand it now.. Don't forget those students usually 6-8 are very disrespectful towards the teachers. I thank those who were actually making things fun there but overall I don't and would never go back there at least not with those teachers. I forgot to mention there are unlicensed "Helpers," there too! Anyways have a great day and I suggest you move on! :)Parent Review3y ago - East Los Angeles Light & Life Christian School
