Posted by a parent on 7/13/2018I went to Harrison St School as it was called in the 50's from 1956 to 1960. I remember the school step monitors they wore patches on their arm, always had to skip a step got away with it most of the time. School was damaged in the 1971 earthquake at 6:00am on a school day. Students would have been injured had earthquake struck earlier since school was unreinforced brick. Does anyone have pictures of the school?
Posted by a community member on 6/16/2013I studied in Harrison... I was there from 1981 to 1987.... Is there any website for ex students??? I would like to contact any of my old classmates... Good memories! =)
Posted by a community member on 10/21/2011I attended this school, i was there since k-8. I learned alot from the teachers there and thanks to the education I received there I made it to High School, which lead me to a university. In Harrison I remember they took us on a field trip to a university, they influenced us to do better with ourself's and for that influence I am very thankful.

4/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageExcellent. I don't know why this site has it so low in grading when there's other schools that don't offer after school, programs, meals, classes for parents, and help for us parents with kids in special needs. Let's not forget counseling .Parent Review6y ago - City Terrace Elementary School

4/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThis school is causing my child to fall behind, he tells me when he asks for help or has a question about his work, his teacher will not help at times and will ignore his request for help. How is he supposed to succeeded if he is lacking time from teacher to help him with his question? And they want to blame his low test scores on a “disability” he doesn’t have, yet want him evaluated for IEP? How about train or hire staff to help kids in class with simple questions that can help them in class without determining he needs special education? It’s my fault for not taking this schools rating into consideration when bringing him to this nice looking school.Other Review2mo ago - Robert F. Kennedy Elementary School

7/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI have two children who attends this school. The principal sends a weekly update every weekend via email to let me know what's coming up this week in addition to the daily text and monthly calendar is that sent home. I appreciate that she understands how hectic our lives are and supports us in staying connected to the school. My kids are happy and love their friends and teachers. There are a lot of activities both during school and afterschool for community building. They hold themselves to very high standards, which I appreciate as a parent. Lastly, I've attended a couple of the parent workshops over the years and appreciate the relevancy for me to apply what's being taught. Because I work full time, I can't go in person but I like the zoom option.Parent Review8mo ago - Murchison Street Elementary School

3/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI work at this school and it honestly is a mess. The students are disrespectful, the parents are as well. The staff is unable to really do their jobs because the principal (Elvira Juarez) has purposely left out Special Education students from activities because they might “ruin” an assembly that was supposed to impress the school district. The principal doesn’t allow the teachers to work effectively and enables not only students to be bullied but staff as well. The staff also has checked out and spend most of their time bad mouthing one another or the children.Other Review4y ago
