Read what parents are saying about George K. Porter Middle SchoolUgh! What is going on with the new management and Principal at Porter? There is a painful lack of organization, communication, and safety since the previous Principal left. There are so many fights on campus and my nephew is begging me to transfer him to another middle school. He tells me that learning is no longer engaging (my words, not his). Its a true shame because things seemed to be on the right track last year.
Posted by a parent on 12/8/2023They do not follow IEPs as written for special needs students. The person in charge of the special education department does not respond to phone calls or emails about concerns. The facilities are also lacking.
Posted by a parent on 12/6/2023Some of the teachers teach somewhat boring. However the rest is amazing of the school.
Posted by a student on 9/22/2022Our daughter was not treated well by the students and the administration at her home. We transferred to Porter Middle School and everything changed for the better. She loves her teachers and the other students. She is in the Magnet program.

N/AGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageOur daughter 1st attended a different preschool and had a terrible experience. We were nervous about her attending a new school but very quickly we realized we'd made the right choice. The teachers are very sweet, caring, nurturing, and supportive. Despite her negative experience elsewhere she quickly adjusted and loved Devonshire Montessori. Every day upon pick up the teachers give me an update on her day. Ms. Altagracia, Ms. Carmen, Ms. Silvia, and Ms. Corina are all wonderful. They're always very helpful and willing to share with me tips on how to reinforce the day's lessons at home. The school is clean and organized. They offer the students different types of activities to keep them engaged. The activities vary from art, music/singing, math, and reading-related, both indoor and outdoor. At Christmas time they had a beautiful pageant that allowed them to showcase what they'd been practicing. My daughter thrived there and was very sad to leave her friends, teachers, and school behind. She's even asked about visiting them now that she's at a new school and wants to call them to leave them messages because she loves them. :)My daughter had Spanish and dance classes every week. She loves her teachers and has formed beautiful friendships. If she weren't going to an elementary school we'd keep her there longer.Parent Review8mo ago - Northridge Community School
