I have taught at several schools in the district, and this is by far the most welcoming school I've been at. The teachers in both lower and upper grades are dedicated and work hard to make this lower income school the best it can be. The hallways and rooms are clean. The restrooms and drinking fount

The fact that by default there is no one to answer the phone and that messages are not returned says a lot about this school.

My son is in 5th grade and has attended this school since TK. We sent his older brother to Los Cerritos because Garfield had such a low rating on this site when he was entering kindergarten (3 in 2012). I was very unhappy in the manner in which the administration deals with bullying and the lack of support it gave my child's teacher. Principal seems afraid to be called out as racist in dealing with bullying, which only empowers the bully. As a result of her inaction, it runs rampant in the school.

Garfield is a horrible school to send your child.High descrimination, bullying and disrespect towards the students and parents. Students are treated very unfairly by the staff and teachers. It is not a safe environment. As parents we don't believe the teachers are properly qualified to teach our chi
